Transcript
00:00 So Daniel, it's the Cameron Cup final on Saturday. 27 years since Oban Kaminak last won it.
00:06 How confident are you going into the final?
00:08 Very confident. We've prepared well. This has been our goal for years, so we don't want it to pass us by. So very confident.
00:17 Kainusi won the Grand Slam last year, but Oban Kaminak stopped them doing that this year winning the Macaulay Cup.
00:24 Does that give you any mental advantage going into the game?
00:26 Yeah, definitely. Kainusi have always got the better of us over the years. So to win the Macaulay Cup against them,
00:33 hopefully gives us that confidence boost and that belief that we can go and do it in the burg.
00:37 A good win at the weekend against Kinloch Shield 4-1. How's form going into the final?
00:43 Yeah, form's been very good. All season we've not been able to put our full team through injuries and stuff.
00:49 Now everyone's fit and ready, so we've got our strongest team out, which is a big boost.
00:54 1996 was the last time Oban Kaminak won the Kaminak Cup. What's the excitement in the town at the moment?
01:02 Expecting a big crowd to come up?
01:04 Oh, there's going to be a very big crowd. The whole town's buzzing. There's a lot of minibuses and a lot of coaches coming.
01:10 To see all that support behind us, that's what could give us the edge in the day. So hopefully we can bring the trophy back to them.
01:16 Doesn't it get any tougher than Kainusi in a final? How do you rate Kainusi as a team?
01:21 Kainusi are a very good team. Like I say, they've got a better of us over the years. They're very similar to us.
01:27 They're fit, they're fast, but we need to play 100% of the day and not let the opportunity pass us by.
01:36 What would it mean to you personally to win the Kaminak Cup?
01:39 Oh, it'd be a great honour. It'd be great to take the trophy back to the town, especially winning two trophies already.
01:44 It'd be something for the history books. It'd be a great honour.
01:46 And it would do a lot for the sport in the town as well, yeah?
01:49 Oh, definitely. There's under-14s and under-17s boys. You want them to see us winning stuff and that'll boost them on to keep going and hopefully win it themselves.
01:59 Because, arguably, Oban's probably the biggest shinty town there is, isn't it?
02:02 Yeah, very big. Like I say, we've got a lot of young boys coming through and you want to give them something to strive to.
02:08 Excellent. Best of luck in the final.
02:09 Thanks very much.
