00:00 Welcome back to the Doc's Diagnosis presented by Centris Federal Credit Union.
00:03 I'm Travis Justice. He is Dr. Rob Zadiska. If you're looking for a new financial
00:07 journey check out Centris Federal Credit Union at CentrisFCU.org. Okay Dr. Rob,
00:12 as an offensive lineman how do I want my arms? If I'm lined up what do I want with my arms?
00:17 Well if you're pass blocking, up, ready position, in close to the body, you don't
00:23 want them extended where the defense can get in them, knock them down. They're a
00:28 target if they're out here. Okay well let's show an example of maybe poor
00:33 pass blocking in your mind. Well it is in my book. So what I want people to look at
00:39 here, so you've got this is, so this is what third quarter? Yes, so early third
00:44 quarter sack of Sims. So there's a couple of things here. You know I hammered the
00:51 tackles all the time for Nebraska and I feel bad about it but it's kind of one
00:55 of those I'm gonna call a spade a spade. You got Ben Hart right here. He gets
01:00 driven backwards with just a bull rush back into the pocket. Does not leave Sims
01:05 any room on the right to maneuver. You've got Ethan Piper at left guard
01:10 corker and at left tackle. They're coming out on these guys respectively. If you
01:15 look at their arms they're out here in position for the defense to basically
01:20 use those arms as a target. And what I want people to focus on, we're gonna go
01:26 ahead and hit play here in just a second, but when Travis hits play watch Ethan
01:32 Piper's arms right there. The defender knocks the hands down and is able to get
01:38 around Piper right away. And you see the same thing right here on this on this end
01:44 zone shot. You got a perfect picture right here of the defenders arm right
01:51 here is knocking Ethan's arm down. Once that arms down he's got a free corner. He
01:59 has nothing stopping him as he's coming back here to get to Sims on the sack. If
02:05 you watch Ben Hart right here the defenders in his chest and once that
02:11 defender gets his hands on an offensive lineman's chest it's game over. He's
02:17 gonna get driven back into the pocket right there on it and as you watch that
02:22 that pocket collapses from both sides. Sims has nowhere to go and doesn't have
02:27 a chance to even step up. Giving up leverage right? It is and that's the
02:31 thing is that if that hand comes down you've basically as an offensive lineman
02:36 that's your barrier between yourself and the defensive lineman. Those arms get
02:41 knocked down. You're essentially I mean imagine trying to pass block somebody
02:47 with no arms. That's where we're at in this situation right here. It's
02:52 a technique thing that needs to get remedied and it needs to get remedied
02:56 quick. And that's coming from a guy who's played the position of offensive
02:59 tackle. For Dr. Rob Zanuska and Travis Justice we'll talk to you next week on
