Transcript
00:00 We expect the operators and drivers of public transportation to rest early.
00:05 This week, it is possible for them to receive a fuel subsidy from the government.
00:10 Karen Villanda with the details. Rise and shine, Karen.
00:13 Good news to the drivers.
00:17 According to the Department of Transportation,
00:20 this week, the target is to distribute the fuel subsidy to the operators and drivers of public transportation.
00:26 This is after the Department of Budget and Management issued a P3 billion in the fund for this.
00:32 We already got the fund.
00:35 We will download it.
00:36 The fund will go to the DOTR first.
00:40 We will download it to the LTFRB.
00:44 So it will be downloaded today or tomorrow.
00:47 Maybe within the week.
00:49 It will be given to the DOTR.
00:51 Because the account numbers are already ready.
00:55 We have a small problem with the tricycle drivers.
00:58 Because the information about them is not complete.
01:03 Up to 280,000 units of public transportation will be given to the LTFRB under the list of those who will receive the aid.
01:10 These are the operators of Jeep, bus, taxi, Uvexpress, shuttle service, tourist and school service.
01:18 There are 930,000 in tricycles and 150,000 in delivery riders throughout the Philippines.
01:25 In total, it will reach 1.3 million beneficiaries.
01:29 It will reach 10,000 pesos for modern PUVs,
01:33 6,500 for traditional jeeps and Uvexpress,
01:37 1,000 pesos for tricycle drivers, and 1,200 for delivery riders.
01:42 Those who are registered with us will receive all of that.
01:46 Because the budget given by the government, the Department of Budget, and the Congress is limited.
01:54 This is included in the General Appropriations Act, 3 billion pesos.
01:59 So that 3 billion pesos is just one of the benefits.
02:02 Ronny called for the arrival of fuel subsidies to drivers like him,
02:07 and not just operators.
02:10 We are asking the operators to give us what they are obligated to give us.
02:18 Because of the high diesel prices, we are in a difficult situation.
02:23 It's hard to fill up.
02:25 The LTFRB said that the fuel subsidy is only for operators,
02:30 but it is not given to those who are loading their units or drivers.
02:35 The fuel subsidy is only a one-time subsidy because according to Secretary Bautista,
02:39 it is possible that the program will be funded again next year.
02:43 Karen Villanda for the Morning Show of the Philippine nation, Rise and Shine, Philippines.
