00:00 The PASIG Regional Trial Court acquitted Rappler CEO Maria Reza and Rappler Holdings Corporation on the case of tax evasion.

00:07 The case was filed in 2018 because the sales receipts of Rappler did not comply with the Philippine Depository Receipts or PDR.

00:17 And it did not comply with the payment of more than P294,000 in value-added tax of VAT.

00:23 In the decision of PASIG RTC, the PDR did not sell Rappler to earn money but to get investment.

00:30 So Rappler did not have to pay VAT for this.

00:33 This is the fifth and last tax evasion case filed against Reza under the Duterte administration.

00:40 Reza was first acquitted by the Court of Tax Appeals in four more tax evasion cases.

00:46 It took almost five years.

00:49 But it's there.

00:52 Finally, we were acquitted despite the political harassment and the intimidation.

00:56 We held the line.

00:58 We continued.

00:59 We had to have faith despite all of the bad that we could see.
