00:26 In this video you will see Kangals fighting against brown bears, wolves, even hyenas.
00:32 You won't believe what you are seeing in this video.
00:34 Humans lived together with Kangals. These dogs protected farms, took care of sheep, cows, fought
00:49 against infinite numbers of wild animals and basically did everything that a human being can
00:54 expect from a dog. Now you are looking at a Kangal which lived approximately 3,000 years ago during
01:04 the Assyrian Empire, today's Turkey. Kangals have been trained for thousands of years in Anatolian region.
01:10 For thousands of years the best Kangals gave birth to the best members of the spirit.
01:18 Kangals are carrying the most valuable genes that a dog can carry in their DNA.
01:24 Kangals are one of the best choices that a farmer can take.
01:29 Their first attempt to protect livestock against wolves. In this video we have a Kangal chasing a wolf without any hesitation.
01:36 Today is a usual day for Kangal but an unlucky day for this wolf.
01:42 Now we are seeing a herd of Kangals including three members on patrol and they came across
01:50 this brown bear. The escape has begun and five members are joined the herd. Kangals are chasing
01:57 this brown bear and trying to take him down. Although Kangals can live alone they like to
02:02 attack in packs similar to the wolves. Brown bears with 975 psi of bite force and 900 pounds of body
02:12 mass is truly a tough creature to take down. Kangals are acting smart and now they are taking
02:28 the advantage of being a team and being more powerful against this huge wild animal.
02:32 Number three, a farmer sees his Kangal is messing up with something else.
02:39 He runs towards the scene and he notices the wolf. Kangals have no fear when they see a threat against
02:45 themselves or their owners. This Kangal has no intention of letting go of this wolf. In this scene
02:54 you are seeing a collar covering this Anatolian Shepherd dog's neck. Neck is the most vulnerable
02:59 part of Kangals. A bite to this area can make the Kangals choiceless. During a one-on-one fight with a
03:07 wild animal is pretty tough because wild animals do not give a second chance in a real fight.
03:13 That's why Turkish shepherds invented this accessory for their dogs. These Kangal collars
03:19 are designed to protect their necks against their rivals during a fight especially to stop wolves.
03:24 They are made of metals such as steel. Number four, this brown bear gets inside of this farm
03:32 and try to search for food. Most likely due to winter conditions in his habitat. However,
03:39 he chooses the wrong farm to get in. Two Kangals confront him in the intersection. These two
03:45 Kangals will protect his owner's property no matter what. While one of them is fighting against the bear
03:52 the second one is recording the scene with an iPhone 6s. Number five, this is the worst situation
04:01 that an animal can live. Fighting with a hungry brown bear. These Kangals confront a brown bear
04:09 which is looking for food to eat, I mean prey to hunt. The livestock must be protected by the
04:15 Kangals. They take this serious and never give up to kill this crazy brown bear. Kangals are bred
04:22 for territorial protection and they instinctively know how to utilize the best area to fight this
04:27 bear. They take him down the valley. The exhausted bear does not have enough energy to swing paws
04:33 against three Kangals. Number six, this brown bear has seen a beautiful cow, a perfect choice for a
04:44 lunch. However, she's not aware of the three Kangals behind him. When he gets closer to the
04:50 cow a Kangal takes a quick bite from his leg. This will be enough for the bear to think about
04:56 another choices for his lunch. Now he must be thinking about which restaurants drive through
05:02 to get in. Number seven, this must be known that there are few dog breeds who can have the courage
05:08 to attack a brown bear. Imagine this huge creature running towards you. These two Kangals are trying
05:15 to take down this bear without any hesitation. Only the bravest dog can do this. Even though
05:21 they got serious injuries, this bear is exhausted and ready to leave the farm. Number eight, this
05:28 Kangal is attacked by three wolves. Wolves bite the Kangal and drag him away. Suddenly two other
05:34 Kangals heard the desperate cries of his friends and ran immediately to help him. Now this is a
05:39 fair fight. Kangals break the wolf's courage in seconds. Wolves were shocked and they ran away
05:50 to save their lives. This is a perfect example of how Kangals act. They are very socialized and
05:55 value the animals around them. This might be another Kangal or a human or even a sheep.
06:01 They are not afraid to sacrifice their lives to save their beloved ones. Number nine, it is hard
06:06 to believe that but now you are seeing a Kangal fighting with a hyena. Hyenas do not live only
06:11 in African continent. Records indicate that striped hyenas had widely distributed in southern and
06:17 western parts of Turkey, including the Mediterranean region. They are among the Anatolia's rare animal
06:23 species and they are close to extinction. Also protected under the Anatolian hyena project.
06:29 However, this Kangal is trying to save his owner's livestock and fights against the striped hyena.
06:36 Hyenas have an incredible bite force. Their jaw can apply a 1200 psi of bite force.
06:42 On the other hand, Kangals can only reach 734 psi.
06:49 Kangal with his strong protective instincts wins this one-on-one fight. In this clip,
06:56 Kangals are again taking the advantage of being a team. These shepherd dogs will be highly motivated
07:02 while fighting with a wild animal to protect its territory. Facing this wild animal will leave
07:08 serious injury for these shepherd dogs. Number ten, the wingspan of an eagle can reach to eight
07:14 feet. These incredible creatures are pretty powerful while hunting. Now we are seeing a
07:19 Kangal fighting against an eagle. Kangals will attempt to bite and drag the rival in a real
07:25 one-on-one fight. Poor eagle is trying to fly away but this Kangal will not let him go. There are
07:31 several cases of eagles messing up with dogs. However, Kangal is the worst choice for this.
