00:00 Whether you're moving out of halls or you're a fresher who didn't manage to snag student
00:06 accommodation, we are taking a look at some of the most popular areas for students to
00:11 live in here in Liverpool.
00:14 If your campus is in the city centre then you could cut down your commute, saving time
00:18 and money by living in the city centre.
00:21 However, what you save on transport, well rents tend to be on the steeper side and the
00:27 closeness to amenities may be handy but when it's so easy to go clothes shopping and head
00:32 out on a last minute night out, you'll find yourself spending a lot more than the average
00:36 student budget can stretch to.
00:39 Parking is also limited so if you've got your car with you, this might not be the best place
00:43 for you to live.
00:45 Smithdown Road and Wavertree are probably the places you think of when it comes to student
00:50 living in the city, with plenty of restaurants, takeaways, pubs and more.
00:54 There is so much on your doorstep if you reside in this part of the city.
00:59 Though you're not quite as central as you might like to be, there are plenty of public
01:04 transport links as well as more options for parking.
01:07 With plenty of green spaces in this student saturated area, it's easy to see why it is
01:12 so popular.
01:14 Kensington is within walking distance to the city centre, whilst having the advantage of
01:18 some of the cheapest rents in Liverpool, it's especially handy to get to the University
01:22 of Liverpool campus from here, with plenty of amenities and a lower cost of living, it's
01:27 very popular with students.
01:30 You may pay more to live in Egbeth than other suburbs of the city, but there is a lot on
01:36 offer if you choose this place to set down roots.
01:39 It's home to Lough Lane, which is absolutely bursting with vibrant independent eateries,
01:44 plenty of watering holes and even bigger characters.
01:47 There's also the gorgeously green Sefton Park, spread over 235 acres with a green flag and
01:53 green heritage awarded site.
01:56 Just don't forget to take your rubbish with you when you leave.
02:01 The Sunday Times Best Places to Live 2023 guide named Liverpool as one of the best places
02:06 to live, with the experts determining Toxteth as their pick for an affordable area to reside.
02:13 They praised the neighbourhood for its cultural and community vibe, with Princess Park, with
02:19 a lake, historical features, located in the heart of L8.
02:22 It's well used by many different parts of the community.
02:27 A street in the area was even awarded the Turner Prize in 2016.
02:31 Assemble won Britain's leading contemporary art award for the regeneration scheme for
02:35 derelict housing in Gramby 4th Street.
02:38 It now has a great community market held on the first Saturday of every month.
02:44 We hope that's been helpful for those of you who are making a decision on where would suit
02:48 you best on your next chapter of life as a student in the city.
02:53 Just remember to treat the area you live in with respect, as us Scousers are proud of
02:58 our city, so leave it the way you found it and we'll get along just fine.
