00:00 Hello, this is Arbaab Ahmed and I'm here to talk about my project which is called Insides
00:06 and Outsides and the various changes in the process while making this film.
00:13 The initial impetus of this project actually started in the beginning of 2020.
00:18 This was during the time when CA and RC protests were on their peak.
00:29 Being a Muslim in India at this particular point of time, I had the strong urge to answer
00:36 this question.
00:37 We are seeing the legal implications of CA and RC protests, but what is the implication
00:44 of their identity?
00:45 You have asked about our identity, so I will say that being a Muslim is our duty.
00:54 If something is spreading in our country that is causing injustice to people, then we should
01:02 stand up against it.
01:04 Today, this is happening to us, so we are standing up for ourselves.
01:07 We know that this will happen to other people as well.
01:10 Initially, I wanted to take the research track to this topic, where I start from research
01:17 and slowly get into the field with a general understanding of the topic at hand.
01:22 But since I had a lot of stake in this project personally, as well as the people who are
01:28 on the streets, who had a lot of things to say about themselves and their own identity,
01:34 I felt that the kind of objectivity I was initially going for is not possible from my perspective.
01:39 The pandemic and the lockdown pretty much upturned the way I was going to shoot this documentary.
02:02 'At Home' is where my documentary took a new life.
02:12 'At Home'
02:38 Suddenly, I found a new strand, which was much more personal and much more fulfilling
02:47 for me as a filmmaker.
02:49 And my observations in the film changed from larger political and sociological realities
02:57 to more interpersonal and more self-defined ideas of identity.
