00:00 All right, after weeks of tracking Hurricane Lee making landfall as we speak near Briar
00:07 Island in the western part of Nova Scotia.
00:10 Thanks for joining us here on the AccuWeather Network.
00:13 Happy Saturday afternoon.
00:14 I'm Bernie Raynaud.
00:15 I'm Melissa Constanzer.
00:16 We've had a tumultuous time over the past few hours throughout some of New England,
00:21 but the biggest story has been down East Main where the power outages have been a bit more
00:25 notable and the surf has been the biggest concern with us.
00:29 And that's where we've had the heaviest rain, although rain's not been a big story with
00:32 this storm.
00:33 I'll show you the numbers in a second.
00:34 There will be a second landfall, by the way, near St. John, New Brunswick around 6 o'clock.
00:41 But again, Lee making landfall near Briar Island as we speak in Nova Scotia.
00:47 Pretty powerful storm.
00:48 We've seen maximum stain winds still right around the 70 mile per hour area.
00:52 Yeah, and this storm, as we noted, did produce some sorts of concerns throughout New England.
00:58 Nantucket dealing with a little bit of coastal flooding from a bit of the storm surge there
01:04 towards East Street and some of those locations.
01:06 So we do know that there were several impacts and really, again, the worst for the U.S.
01:12 is parts of coastal Maine and down East Main.
01:16 So that's where we're really talking about the worst of this storm still unfolding at
01:19 this point in time.
01:20 Yeah, here's what you need to know for Lee as we move forward here again.
01:23 Landfall occurring as we speak.
01:24 Now, the strongest wind gusts are going to be in eastern Maine right now.
01:29 Conditions slowly improving this afternoon across eastern Massachusetts and rough surf
01:33 continues into Sunday here.
01:36 There's the center of circulation again, making landfall, maximum stain winds 70 miles per
01:41 hour.
01:42 The movement north at 22 miles per hour here.
01:46 Wind gusts also.
01:47 This is what we've seen so far.
01:49 Halifax 73 miles per hour.
01:51 Prior Island, where we're getting the landfall right now at 66 miles per hour.
01:57 And because of the wind, there's been lots of power outages here.
02:01 Ninety two and a half thousand homes and businesses without power in Maine.
02:05 That number in Nova Scotia, over 160,000, you know, as we speak.
02:10 Now, rough, rough surf.
02:12 This is live from Nova Scotia right now along the South Shore.
02:17 Lee is located well east or west of here, but there's still an onshore flow.
02:22 And during times of high tides, we're still going to see a storm surge in southern Nova
02:27 Scotia through this evening.
02:29 Look at those waves.
02:30 Twenty footers offshore still even along the Cape Cod coastal main waves of twelve, thirteen,
02:37 fourteen feet.
02:38 Future radar showing that heavy rain across down east Maine will begin to diminish as
02:42 we head toward this evening.
02:44 In fact, by tomorrow morning, clouds will break.
02:47 We'll get a little break in the action tomorrow.
02:50 More rain on the way Sunday night.
02:52 Stay with us as Lee makes landfall.
