00:03 Can you tell us who or what has the most impact on you
00:12 this year?
00:13 Through my work at Daughters for Earth,
00:15 because I'm working on finding and funding
00:18 women-led climate actions, I am getting
00:20 to meet amazing, honestly, amazing women
00:25 around the world who are protecting
00:27 lands and rivers and animals and all kinds of nature.
00:33 These women are in their power.
00:37 What they need is for their power
00:38 to be celebrated and enforced.
00:40 I was so lucky to be reunited with Steven Spielberg
00:43 and Harrison Ford.
00:44 And honestly, that's who I started.
00:46 They gave me my first job.
00:48 When I think of impact, what impact,
00:51 I think of all the people that has made a difference
00:53 in my life.
00:54 For example, my wife, my mom.
00:56 But in terms of career-wise, Steven Spielberg
00:58 has made one of the biggest impacts of my career.
01:01 So to think that the effect that he has on me
01:06 is the same effect that I might have on somebody else,
01:09 it's just incredible.
01:10 And I feel so honored.
01:12 As I have always said, the more local you go,
01:15 the more global you reach.
01:16 There's a certain shift in cinema in India
01:19 where theatricals are back again.
01:21 We're coming from a pandemic, and the theatricals
01:24 were not doing that well.
01:25 So for me, I think the inspiration
01:27 comes from the grassroots level stories of my nation
01:30 and reaching out to those people,
01:32 connecting via cinema, making a certain social change.
01:36 Who do you think should be Person of the Year this year?
01:38 Person of the Year this year for Time
01:40 should be somebody who is demonstrating
01:43 environmental conservation and somebody who is actually
01:45 championing climate action.
01:47 Because that's the most important challenge of our time
01:49 this year.
01:50 And anybody that's demonstrating that,
01:52 anybody that is championing that,
01:54 I think ought to be Time Person of the Year this year.
01:56 Everybody should get the spotlight.
01:58 Everybody-- I waited a long, long time for this.
02:02 And there are so many of me out there waiting
02:06 for their spotlight, waiting for the opportunity,
02:08 waiting for the chance.
02:09 And I just hope that all of those people will get
02:13 their moment, will get their spotlight.
02:15 So I wouldn't just mention one or name one,
02:19 but everybody deserves that title.
02:21 I would choose the Power of Young Women Activists
02:24 of the Year.
02:25 Because young women leaders are not operating in individuality.
02:29 They're operating in the power of the collective, of the we,
02:32 of collaboration, of unity, of coordination with each other.
02:36 What gives you hope these days?
02:38 I get hope and inspiration from the work
02:41 that I do every day in terms of environmental conservation.
02:44 The work that I do working with children
02:46 every day for my project, making sure
02:48 that they are cleaning their own air, growing their own food,
02:50 and creating their own green spaces.
02:52 And for me, the fact that the work that I do
02:54 inspires change in so many other people
02:56 and that it's transforming lives is the most thing that
02:59 gives me hope.
03:00 What gives me hope is people's willingness
03:03 to be very open and honest about how they're feeling.
03:07 I think we've come a very long way over the past few years
03:10 in people being vocal on what they're going through
03:13 and what they're experiencing.
03:14 And I think that allows for us to really come at each other
03:18 with a place of optimism, but also hope and grace,
03:21 and really caring about one another,
03:24 not only friends and family, but as a global community.
03:26 And I think that's what really is hopeful.
03:30 I guess nature gives me hope.
03:31 I think the nature heals itself.
03:33 And that's the kind of healing we need as human beings.
03:37 And I think nature is also a great leveler.
