00:00 Hello, I'm Kelsey Grammer and welcome to the new set of Frazier or Dr. Frazier Crane.
00:07 I'd like to show you around my new digs.
00:10 Well, so this is Frazier's new apartment and his tastefully decorated condo.
00:16 Oh, for your information, this is approximately where the Cheers bar used to be.
00:23 Norm used to sit over here.
00:25 For those of you who don't know, this is the same stage that Cheers was shot on.
00:29 And we just threw him right out of here.
00:31 And this is about where Frazier usually sat.
00:33 I like what you've done with your apartment.
00:35 Thank you.
00:36 You have some beautiful things.
00:37 The settlement is final, Lily.
00:40 Television's in here. That's going to be a big part.
00:42 It's like we're going back to "All in the Family" where the TV was in the foreground and Archie sat in a sort of loathsome disposition at all times right in front of it.
00:52 That's not, however, what I do.
00:53 The real clue here is the veneer.
00:56 Veneer!
01:00 The style of decorating is, as we say in the show, eclectic.
01:04 If you've got really fine pieces of furniture, it doesn't matter if they match.
01:08 They will go together.
01:10 It's your money.
01:15 This is the radio station.
01:17 Very exciting.
01:18 We've got all the kind of necessary equipment around to make it look like a phony set.
01:22 This is where Frazier sits and takes his calls and doles out his advice.
01:27 There's a little board there and his microphone and notepad.
01:31 Make sure he's doing a responsible job.
01:33 Over here we have the sound technician, Roz, sits over here and runs the show and makes sure the commercial tapes get played right and bangs on the window once in a while to remind me that I'm screwing up in my job.
01:45 So, Lilith, seven at my place?
01:47 Sounds great.
01:49 [laughter]
01:55 And this is the coffee house.
01:57 This set serves as a place where information is given and also if we're stuck in the other two standard sets over there for some kind of a new story point or a plot point.
02:09 The food is real, not particularly my taste, because as I've always said of Bran Muffins, there's a bowl of granola in every bite.
02:17 You just want me to agree with your decision and support you whether I share your opinion or not.
02:21 Yes, but I don't have an opinion in this case.
02:23 I'm sure you do.
02:24 But I don't.
02:25 Well, then I can't help you.
02:26 [laughter]
02:27 No, it's not the same character. That's the beauty of it.
02:29 When we first started talking about the possibility of playing Frazier in another show, my requisite request was that he be the next manifestation of Frazier.
02:42 Moving into another kind of world where new demands are made and of course the beauty of Frazier is he adjusts to new information and new situations and has always become a different person than he was like the season before in Cheers or whatever.
02:56 And that's why he's still fun to play.
02:58 My practice had grown stagnant and my social life consisted of hanging around a bar night after night.
03:06 [laughter]
03:08 What stays the same is his sort of posed intolerance for change and yet his ability to always roll with the punches.
03:18 We're seeing his brother and his father and him living with a health care worker.
03:23 It's just a whole new set of circumstances that hopefully he'll be able to shoulder very well with a bit of, you know, protest.
03:32 Dad, as dear as I'm sure that this piece is to you, I just don't think it goes with anything here.
03:38 I know! It's eclectic!
03:40 [laughter]
