00:00 Blunt. This is a 2025 verbal commitment. Now there is some chatter about possible reclassification
00:07 of 2024. We'll circle back to that, but let's talk about Armando Blunt, the player blue. This guy,
00:13 when he was back at Dillard, started playing varsity football all the way back in eighth
00:18 grade. So he's into his fifth year of varsity experience now at Miami Central, big bodied
00:25 player. What can you tell us about the newest Miami Hurricanes verbal commit Armando Blunt?
00:30 Yeah, different level type of kid, no doubt that he's been the number one player in the class of
00:35 2025 for the last two years. So everybody's kind of seen him, as you mentioned, you know,
00:42 because Dillard has that sixth through 12th grade now, which is started a couple of years ago. So
00:50 they're utilizing a lot of eighth graders, seventh graders going on the junior varsity now. And,
00:56 you know, so he had an opportunity to do some really, really good things at the varsity level
01:02 at a, at an early age. But not only that, he's the number one rated shot putter in the country for
01:07 his class. So that's, that's another thing that, you know, a lot of people like, and, you know,
01:14 I'm sure he's going to do it just like Ed Reed did, you know, at, at Miami when he was there
01:20 throwing the javelin. I think that you're going to see him there going to the college level and
01:25 throwing the shot. And I'm sure that Miami will encourage that as well. Good off season conditioning.
01:31 He's going to stay strong and he's going to compete, which they like a lot. So yeah, he's,
01:36 he's pretty much a total package gets done in the classroom as well. You know, he's good size kid,
01:43 quick off the ball. And he'll have a good test this week against Chaminade Madonna,
01:48 the number two and three teams in the state. So yeah, this is a guy that, you know, I think it
01:55 came out of left field for some, because they were looking, you know, there was a lot of other
02:00 schools, national rated schools, Alabama and such that were on him. And I personally thought he was
02:06 looking for a program that also had great track. But you know, you, you, you make, especially in an
02:13 individual event like shot put or discus, you know, you, you are what you are. There's nobody's
02:19 going to help you out as far as a team or so, and you train the way you train. So yeah, it's
02:26 kind of a sign of times, especially because Miami has gotten off to a really good start
02:32 and that are winning and you know, winning kind of like, you know, it gets everybody boiling and
02:39 especially the game against Texas A&M, a lot of those recruits, you know, are kind of likening
02:46 to the Notre Dame game that time when Bandy returned the interception and the place went
02:52 crazy and the recruits that were on hand kind of really solidified themselves, you know, as far as
02:58 what school they wanted to go to. And I, I think that's, what's happening at Miami. And, you know,
03:03 I know Mario Cristobal feels the same way. You got to win. You're never going to be satisfied
03:08 for where you're at. And yeah, there, I think that's what happens. And that's like, you get a
03:15 kid, you know, like a Bane last year and certainly get a five-star kid this year, like Blunt.
03:22 Yeah. And you know, Blunt 2025 is his current class. He knows he has the option to reclassify.
03:29 Maybe he's thinking about it. If Armando Blunt were to make that move and reclassify to the
03:36 class of 2024, which would make a lot of Miami fans happy because Miami has had trouble landing
03:40 some of the marquee defensive tackles in the class of 2024, you could get one a year early.
03:45 Is that a legitimate option for Armando Blunt? Do you think physically and mentally he would be
03:51 ready to jump the college a year early? Yeah, no doubt from a physical standpoint. Yes. And
03:56 as you alluded to before, he's been at the varsity level now for four years. So he's kind of been
04:02 around, you know, from when he was in eighth grade or being around a lot of those high level kids and,
04:08 you know, kids that were getting recruited while he was in the eighth grade and they would come
04:12 and he kind of got to learn the process and matured a little bit. They kind of
04:17 leaned on him quite a bit last year at Dillard and this year he's just, I went to see him twice
04:22 and a kid's a different level type of kid. And, you know, and certainly somebody who I think
04:29 comes into that situation. And we talked about this before, Alex, you know, you look at the
04:33 schools like Georgia and Alabama and Ohio State and Michigan, and they, you know,
04:40 they have two and three of those type of kids at that position in the defensive line,
04:45 especially Georgia, who could lose two or three of them. Remember Clemson did the same thing.
04:49 Miami needs to have a run of those. They could have four and five, the Leonard Taylors, obviously,
04:56 and the Baines and some of the emerging stars coming out of the recruiting class from last
05:01 year and also the transfer portal class. So he would be a welcome addition. He compete right away,
05:08 especially because he'd come in, you know, in January. So he would be ready to go during the
05:13 spring and that would be huge. And he'd be right in the mix next year because of the fact that he
05:20 would have those six, five, six months, you know, not only getting bigger and stronger, but from a
05:25 mental standpoint and also going to classes and, you know, learning a little bit of how the college
05:31 life is. And I think that's the best thing ever invented. And somebody like him would fully take
05:37 advantage of it.
