00:00 Wherever the rules in the locker room, all right?
00:02 Expect a good, clean fight out of both of you.
00:04 -We'll be all right. -Okay?
00:05 Hey, close attention to my commanders, all right?
00:08 Touch them up, wait for the bell.
00:09 [ Cheers and applause ]
00:11 -Hey, Ray. -Can you tell us
00:17 that Julio Solis is from Tampa?
00:20 Always brings a big crowd when he fights here at Pro Box.
00:22 You got that right.
00:25 -Well, tell LeVar if you're not from Nicaragua,
00:27 we're not gonna not mention Mayorga, right?
00:29 If he fights anything like his countrymen.
00:31 -You got that right. Here we go!
00:34 It's time to fight.
00:38 -I think that's twice already.
00:39 Talavera tries a right hand over the top of the jab of Solis.
00:43 -Gray, black, and white trunks for Julio Solis.
00:50 The red and white for Yesner Talavera.
00:53 [ Crowd shouting ]
00:56 -Come on, work out, work out. Let go, let go, let go.
00:58 -And Talavera's definitely looking for that right hand
01:00 over the top. Ooh, nice 2-3 combination from Solis.
01:04 [ Crowd shouting ]
01:07 -Yeah, so Talavera's a veteran, you know?
01:09 He's gonna try to make the young guy burn his energy.
01:12 You can see Solis has that youth energy,
01:14 that youth excitement when he's gonna try to create the action
01:17 and then throw those shots like that, good, snappy shots.
01:21 Try to overwhelm the veteran.
01:24 -There's that right hand again.
01:26 [ Crowd shouting ]
01:28 -You can see Solis respond with energy.
01:31 See if he's able to create openings
01:34 with some savvy, crafty moves, as well.
01:35 Let's see.
01:37 -Did you mention the craziest man in the sport?
01:41 -Ricardo Mayorga? -Yeah.
01:42 -Yes, I did, of course. I mean, my northwest --
01:44 -Oh, got it. -Nicaragua.
01:46 I mean, like I said, if he's anything like his countryman,
01:49 you know, he's a rough and tough customer.
01:51 -And in our main event of the evening,
01:53 Lester Martinez, who is 15 and 0,
01:56 will put his unbeaten record on the line
01:59 against the Brazilian.
02:01 The final fight of Mayorga's professional career, of course,
02:05 was against Martinez.
02:07 -It's punches up. -These guys are banging.
02:09 [ Crowd shouting ]
02:12 -Catch and shoot there by Talavera,
02:15 but Solis looking to overwhelm him.
02:18 Going to the body.
02:19 [ Crowd shouting ]
02:22 And very comfortable moving back.
02:26 -Talavera coming in, ripping some body shots.
02:27 Solis is willing to oblige.
02:30 Stand in front and go body for body.
02:35 -Keep it clean now.
02:36 -Oh, good right-hand exchange there.
02:39 The only thing about being a young guy like Solis,
02:41 you end up setting this kind of pace.
02:43 It's a power pace.
02:44 You're throwing a lot of power shots,
02:46 and you're going to make a guy like Talavera oblige.
02:49 You know, Talavera is a veteran, but he's not that old.
02:51 You know what I'm saying? He may end up obliging you.
02:53 You end up making this fight tougher on you
02:55 than you need it to be.
02:56 Sometimes it's best for the young prospect
02:58 to also work on that craft, you know, use that jab,
03:00 use those subtle feints like that.
03:02 You know, you'll start to control the pace a little bit
03:04 and learn how to control your opponent
03:06 and put him where you want to put him
03:08 instead of just trying to bomb him out.
03:09 -And also just separate the skill set.
03:11 Solis, obviously, is cleaner, like you said, more youthful.
03:14 If he takes a half step back and uses that jab and feinting,
03:17 it's going to separate the skill set.
03:20 -But he comes out, and you can see...
03:23 -Ah!
03:24 -...why he has the moniker of "Macho."
03:27 Comes out, firing, sits down on his punches,
03:31 and looks to give our fans a bang for the buck again.
03:34 [ Crowd cheering ]
03:36 -Whoa!
03:37 [ Whistle blows ]
03:39 [ Crowd cheering ]
03:41 -A lot of action in that first round.
03:42 There's off the break, a nice couple nice shots there
03:45 by Solis, right hand over the top and a left hook.
03:48 Good on Solis. -Get your punches up, Julio.
03:51 -Get over when he threw his right hand.
03:52 He got his head off center.
03:54 That's why they teach you, young prospects,
03:55 to get your head off center when you throw that right hand.
03:57 That's an example right there.
03:59 Had Solis thrown that right hand
04:00 without getting his head off center,
04:01 that right hand from Talavera would have landed.
04:03 But although Solis missed the right hand,
04:04 he had his head off center, so he couldn't pay for it.
04:06 -And when he dips that way,
04:08 it loads up that front hand, that left hook,
04:09 which Solis has a good one.
04:11 [ Whistle blows ]
04:13 -Let's go!
04:16 -Talavera, born and raised in Nicaragua,
04:20 now called Spain home tonight.
04:24 He calls Pro Box TV World Headquarters home.
04:27 Round number two, red and white trunks for Yesner Talavera.
04:33 And the macho one, Julio Solis, in the gray, black, and white.
04:44 -Yeah, before I got suited and booted earlier this evening,
04:48 I saw the Solis fans pouring in.
04:53 -Well, the ovation that he was given when he entered the ring,
04:57 Chris, made me think back to the movie "Hoosiers."
05:00 When Hickory goes to play and they say,
05:02 "Town closed for the night," game on.
05:05 Well, town closed for the night.
05:06 Julio's fighting. -Yeah, Tampa's here.
05:08 -Tampa's here.
05:10 -Got to be careful going straight back.
05:12 He's done that a couple of times,
05:13 and it's allowed Talavera not so much to land the cleanest shots,
05:16 but still to make contact,
05:17 which gives him a little bit of confidence.
05:22 -First fight in a little over a year for Julio Solis.
05:26 -You always want to make a veteran lose that confidence
05:28 and make him lose his ability to think he can win the fight.
05:31 He basically takes him out of the fight little by little.
05:33 When you make little mistakes like that,
05:35 even though you're winning the fight,
05:36 you end up giving Talavera a reason to hang around,
05:38 a reason to believe, and a reason to keep trying.
05:41 -And Talavera Pauli has fought a very high level of competition
05:45 in his professional career.
05:49 In fact, his last 11 opponents...
05:53 -Let go, let go, let go. -...have a combined record
05:54 of 218, 11, and 8.
05:58 I'd say he's fighting good guys.
06:01 -Tonight included. -Absolutely.
06:04 -Not happy.
06:07 -Solis, 8-0, won his first six fights by knockout or TKO.
06:13 He's gone the distance in the last two.
06:17 -Yeah, and all that shows that you're stepping up
06:18 your level of competition. -Yeah.
06:20 -That's what a prospect does, and this is your chance now.
06:22 Also, you know, we've seen the knockout power
06:24 when it's needed, but also... -Let go of the arms.
06:26 -...you got to show that craftiness.
06:27 And here in this fight, he's being forced
06:29 to use some of that skill.
06:31 -Yeah, I like what Solis is doing.
06:32 He's being very comprehensive in his attack.
06:34 Head, body, he's hitting him in between
06:37 when they're at the middle distance,
06:38 which is keeping Telivera really just down to one shot,
06:41 which is that big overhand right.
06:43 -He came out excited.
06:44 Now he's starting to think his way through the fight.
06:46 -Yeah, I think he was trying to blow the guy out early.
06:48 Saw that he was durable enough, so I got to break him down.
06:52 Ooh, good body shots.
06:53 -Three of his finishes in the first one,
06:54 in the second, two in the third.
06:56 So much to your point, Chris.
06:58 Solis likes to come out hot.
07:01 -He's certainly done that here.
07:03 Under 30 seconds on the clock here in round number two.
07:06 -Nice feint. Good switching it up.
07:08 Instead of the right hand over the top,
07:09 he came with the uppercut.
07:10 Just missed, but good attempt.
07:12 -Good combination thrown by Solis.
07:17 Ooh, that's a quick left hook.
07:20 And then body shots.
07:22 -Got to watch the heads in here.
07:23 These guys are getting very, very close.
07:25 Time!
07:27 -Solis doing some good, consistent body work.
07:30 It may pay off as the round progresses against Telivera.
07:33 We'll see.
07:34 -And, Paulie, he's got power in both hands.
07:37 -These rounds are flying by.
07:38 -Yeah. -Good action-packed fight.

07:49 -Here we see where a lot of the fight is being fought now,
07:59 with Solis pinning Telivera against the ropes.
08:01 I like the work that he's doing.
08:02 He's pulling out.
08:03 He's not getting hit with too much.
08:05 But like you said, champ, he's breaking the veteran down.
08:07 With these kind of guys who are durable enough,
08:09 you got to -- it's not just about hitting them with big shots.
08:12 It's about not allowing them to land, either,
08:13 so they don't think they can win.
08:15 -Let's go.
08:17 -Yeah, a lot of the stuff he's throwing
08:18 isn't landing cleanly,
08:19 but that's why it's important to go to the body,
08:21 and Solis has made sure not to neglect that.
08:25 -He's also completely shutting down Telivera's offense.
08:27 He's only got that big overhand right,
08:28 which hasn't landed since the first round.
08:30 -Scheduled for 8, round number 3.
08:33 Mike Goldberg, my powerful partners,
08:35 the former two-time world champion,
08:36 the Magic Man, Paulie Molinaggi,
08:38 former world champion Chris Algieri,
08:41 Wednesday night fights on ProBox TV.
08:46 -Again, the eye faint there. He looked down.
08:48 He tried to come up with that right hand
08:50 to the stomach, as well.
08:51 -Well-timed.
08:53 -He's changed levels beautifully thus far in this fight.
08:56 -Yeah, good punch variation from Solis.
09:01 Nice level changes up, down, using the eyes,
09:04 using the upper-body rhythm.
09:06 And you're seeing now from Telivera,
09:10 he's starting to put himself against the ropes.
09:13 He's not being forced there like he was in the first round.
09:15 -He has only been stopped twice in 32 bouts, 175 rounds.
09:23 Ironically, one of those was in his most recent fight.
09:28 -And there was Telivera went straight back,
09:29 and he ended up paying for it.
09:33 Good double jab used there by Solis
09:35 to drive Telivera straight back.
09:37 -Let go of the head. Stop. Stop. Break.
09:42 Don't pull down the head. Hold it down.
09:43 Hear me? Hear me?
09:45 -Stop!
09:53 -Naji Lopez in our co-main event coming up next.
09:58 Second fight since suffering a broken jaw last August.
10:04 Fifth time we have had Julio Solis here on Pro Box TV.
10:09 In Pauley, it's fun to call a young fighter's bouts
10:14 consistently because we do see the maturation process
10:18 right in front of our eyes.
10:19 -Yeah, and then, of course,
10:20 a step up in the level of opposition.
10:22 Oh, all that and the adjustments he's making.
10:24 I'll tell you, those counter right-hand style
10:25 that is tempting are getting slower and slower.
10:27 So I'm telling you, he's slowing down.
10:29 As Julio's youth energy, the body shots,
10:32 they're starting to take effect little by little.
10:34 -And also notice the body language of Telivera
10:35 is very different from round number one.
10:37 He's starting to be broken down little by little.
10:39 -Step back. Step back.
10:41 Box.
10:42 [ Indistinct shouting ]
10:47 No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
10:48 Let go. Let go of him. Come on.
10:49 Stop.
10:51 Pull down the head now, okay?
10:54 -30 seconds on the clock.
10:56 Round three.
10:57 Body, body.
10:58 Just missed over the top.
11:02 -I think that actually had an effect.
11:04 I don't know if Solis saw it.
11:06 Would be smarter for him to go back down to the body here.
11:08 ♪♪
11:15 -Yeah, see, the speed of Telivera's is dropped markedly.
11:18 -Yeah, he's almost -- He's been second-guessing himself
11:20 as he throws the shots.
11:22 Nice shot to get in there.
11:23 -Ooh, good left hook to deliver there.
11:24 -Yep. -Sneaky shot.
11:26 -Yep.
11:27 [ Cheers and applause ]
11:30 -Don't forget, the big fights are talked about all the time
11:35 here on "ProBox TV,"
11:37 and we will hear a little bit of these guys' thoughts
11:39 about Tyson Fury and Francis Nogano.
11:43 Still to come, that hook just missed.
11:45 -That left hook, man, that's been the weapon
11:47 all night for Solis.
11:48 He loves that left hook. He is Puerto Rican.
11:50 So look at this, right hand over top,
11:51 and then, bang, big left hook.
11:53 As Telivera stands up tall at the wrong range.
11:55 -And also notice how he got Telivera to go straight back.
11:57 That level change jab to the stomach, to the head,
12:00 and continue with the combination right off the end.

12:28 when he was turning down all that reported money
12:30 in the UFC and the PFL.

12:56 Julio Solis, second straight eight-rounder,
12:59 gray-black, white trunks, red and white

13:34 -And if he performs, maybe I'll get a rematch.
13:36 -You got that right.
13:37 [ Crowd cheering ]
13:41 -Right now, speaking of performing,
13:43 Solis was driving back Talavera bit by bit.
13:45 And Talavera, like you said, champ,
13:47 his body language has changed.
13:49 Speed on his shots has changed.
13:51 And he's, uh -- -He's pulling away in the shade.
13:53 -He's looking less and less enthusiastic
13:55 about being in the ring with Macho Solis.
13:57 -Well, Solis left him going back to the corner

14:12 See, is he getting up? I don't think he's getting up.
14:14 Ooh, good body shot there.
14:16 -And he sneaks in an uppercut, as well.
14:17 -I like the way he's getting them in there, too.
14:19 He kind of feints up top,
14:20 and then he dips that left hand real low,
14:22 and then he brings it up,
14:24 like almost like an uppercut to the body.
14:25 -Like a shuttle punch. -Yep.

16:35 -And if that doesn't tell you, the fighter knows
16:38 that his opponent is starting to wear out, nothing will.
16:41 I mean, Solis came out throwing out a double left hook
16:43 right off the jump to start this round.
16:45 -Don't realize. -Ooh, that one landed nicely.
16:48 -No. -And the right.
16:50 -He realizes... -Talavera.

17:00 -Talavera has some chin.
17:01 He got cracked with some big shots,
17:03 a left hook and a right hand, two right hands.
17:06 -Solis cut off the ring here.
17:07 It's going to make it a lot more difficult for Talavera.
17:09 There's a lot in the circle, but he can start cutting them off.
17:12 -One, two, three.
17:14 -Ooh. -Oh, big shots.
17:16 -Working all over his opponent.
17:21 -You got to get him off, you hear me?
17:23 -All right, let's go.
17:27 -One minute into round five.
17:30 -That's a veteran move, too.
17:31 You got a guy who's really pouring it on you.
17:33 Break up the rhythm by calling a blow.
17:35 Talk to the ref, get the action in before you're broken.
17:38 Momentum matters.
17:39 -Solis could have attacked him there, too.
17:41 -Absolutely.
17:44 If the ref doesn't break you and the guy starts talking
17:46 to the ref, you are allowed to crack the mess.
17:47 That's not on you.
17:50 -You must intelligently defend yourself.
17:54 -Sneaky little uppercut, and then the right
17:56 into the rib cage of Nicaragua's Talavera.
18:00 -Punches up.
18:03 -Yes, and they're trying to answer against the robes.
18:06 But Julio Solis looks spectacular tonight.
18:14 -Snapping that jab.
18:17 -The left hand is on a lot here for Solis.
18:19 You know, hooks to the head, hooks to the body, jabs.
18:23 Different rhythm of jabs.

21:01 -Yep, Solis going up and down the gears here
21:03 nicely in this fight.
21:04 You know, he's gone up all the way to fifth gear at times.
21:06 Now he's in that control mode where he's using the jab
21:09 to sort of reoxygenate while he controls the pace,

25:47 -And when you have guys like this,

25:53 If you just start to unload, and they're not able
25:55 to defend themselves, and we're starting to see that here
