Why India has a tomato crisis?

No Indian can probably watch videos of La Tomatina, the tomato fight festival in Spain right now. They would simply break any person’s heart in India, a country that is facing a nationwide tomato crisis. In just one year, tomato prices in India have surged by over 300%. By the end of July, they had gone up to 250 rupees, or 3 dollars per kilogram in some parts of India. This is almost three times more than the price of petrol per liter.
