00:02 I'm Christian Seaborn from Motor Trend.
00:07 And as you can see from this very dirty Rivian R1T,
00:10 I just got off the trail.
00:11 So I'm gonna plug her in, go grab a coffee,
00:13 and then I'll show you around the interior.
00:14 What do you think?
00:15 (upbeat music)
00:18 All right, so now that I've got my coffee,
00:23 now that we're plugged in,
00:24 let's take a look around the interior.
00:26 So the Rivian R1T's interior is kind of a nice mix
00:30 of old and new.
00:31 On the old front, you have a traditional automotive feature
00:34 such as this really nice wood grain dashboard,
00:36 which is probably my favorite feature.
00:37 But on the new front,
00:38 you have the very obvious kind of Tesla-like screens.
00:41 You have a very high resolution screen
00:43 for your instrument cluster,
00:44 and then another one for your infotainment features
00:46 in the middle.
00:47 The center console is really neat.
00:49 It's pretty deep.
00:50 And in front of it,
00:51 we have this really useful kind of storage shelf,
00:53 which I just noticed is actually little Rivian logos
00:56 that'll wirelessly charge your phone.
00:57 In front of it, we have, where my coffee's sitting,
01:00 is this cup holder that pops out.
01:02 To be honest, this is the only cup holder up front,
01:04 and it's not enough.
01:05 In back, the seats aren't quite as comfortable as the front.
01:12 The front seats, I can happily spend literally 12 hours
01:14 on the trail getting beat up in.
01:16 But legroom's pretty real neat.
01:18 Interior materials stay in the same quality in the back.
01:20 A lot of manufacturers will cheap out
01:21 on the materials in the back.
01:22 Rivian hasn't.
01:23 And as for cup holders,
01:25 there's a flip down armrest,
01:27 and then you can actually, behind the armrest,
01:29 roll up this little door and reach into the gear tunnel
01:32 and grab whatever you need.
01:33 On the center screen, we have a drive mode screen,
01:35 and there are five drive modes,
01:38 all-purpose, sport, conserve, off-road, and towing.
01:41 And each of those generally has
01:42 a couple other settings in there.
01:44 Plus, we have multiple suspension heights.
01:46 Overall, honestly, I've spent well over 40 hours
01:49 in the Rivian R1T's interior.
01:51 I think the design's really nice.
01:52 I think it seems really well-built,
01:54 especially in this pre-production phase.
01:55 Its biggest misses are basically lack of storage.
02:00 There's a good amount,
02:01 but more cup holders are always welcome.
02:03 Other than that, some maybes,
02:05 the more hard buttons for features
02:07 like volume or temperature.
02:10 But those are things that Rivian is aware of
02:13 and working on, so we shall see what the future holds.
02:16 But otherwise, in all honesty,
02:18 for a new automaker with their first effort off the bat,
02:21 I'm generally pretty impressed with the Rivian R1T.
