00:00 >> All right, good Wednesday practice, red area third down day as usual.
00:05 Got some good folks, certainly a lot to clean up, but our guys are amped and
00:09 ready to go.
00:09 [BLANK_AUDIO]
00:19 >> Yeah, well, for the run game standpoint, right?
00:23 He's a guy that's been able to run the ball really well,
00:25 had a lot of success for this team in the past.
00:28 I think he's a hard runner, runs, kind of runs like Derek Henry, yes.
00:32 And that'll be a great challenge for us.
00:34 So we have to certainly have to be ready for him if he's out there.
00:37 >> How big is this weekend for you from a recruiting standpoint?
00:40 >> Yeah, we'll have a lot of people here.
00:41 I know our crowd's gonna be amazing, but we're gonna have a ton of great people
00:44 that can help us in the future that we need to make a great impact on.
00:47 >> How have the last few days gone in terms of cleaning up the penalty stuff that
00:50 you guys talked about?
00:51 >> We'll see on Saturday.
00:52 Yeah, we'll see on Saturday.
00:53 >> Was there one in particular that bothered you most from last weekend?
00:57 >> Anything that's happened post snap, right?
00:59 Drives me nuts when we have post snap penalties at plays outside the whistle.
01:02 There's gonna be aggressive penalties within the framework of the game at times,
01:08 but we can't be having those penalties that cost us after the snap.
01:12 >> How pleased are you with the speed of your defense in the three games?
01:16 >> Pleased but anxious for more growth, right?
01:18 Certainly anxious for more growth, and
01:20 I think we're getting there closer and closer each week.
01:22 >> With what he did this offseason,
01:23 how pleased are you with Bryce Fetcher's plays for the first time?
01:26 >> Yeah, I love Bryce.
01:27 I mean, he's earned every opportunity he's gotten.
01:29 Nothing's been handed to that guy.
01:31 He had a long track to go to get his way to where he was on the field, and
01:34 he's earned that.
01:35 He's done a great job.
01:36 >> Thoughts on the thermoreactive cleats that the players will be wearing this week?
01:39 >> They look cool.
01:40 They look really cool.
01:41 I mean, I think that's a great representation of what it's like to be at
01:45 Oregon and be connected with a place like Nike and how much they do for us and
01:49 how they make an impact on our program, cuz it was pretty neat.
01:52 And what I love about it is when these guys are wearing them at practice,
01:55 I can tell if they're practicing hard, right?
01:56 If their cleats aren't turning colors, then we got a problem, right?
02:00 Better than the GPS sometimes.
02:01 >> What have you made of Ross James' punting?
02:04 I know he's averaged over 50, kind of a small sample size, but
02:07 your thoughts on how he's performed?
02:08 >> Yeah, I think he's done a great job.
02:09 He's gotta continue to bring that consistency that he's brought for us, but
02:12 really pleased so far with the punts that he's hit.
02:14 >> What makes Jordan Donick a threat on the edge?
02:17 You guys haven't faced a lot of premier edge guys just yet, but
02:20 he's probably less productive.
02:21 What makes him a challenge?
02:22 >> Yeah, I think it's motor, right?
02:23 The guy goes hard consistently.
02:25 And they operate with some different techniques on the edge.
02:28 At times they're attached to the tackle, and
02:30 at times they're sprinting up the field.
02:31 So they're gonna pass rush probably more than what we've seen from some other guys.
02:35 Similar probably to Texas Tech at times, but he does a good job.
02:39 >> With this being the biggest matchup the team has faced so far this season,
02:42 it being practical play, being Colorado.
02:44 Just what have your conversations with the team been like about distractions
02:47 outside of football?
02:48 >> Play the game, not the occasion, right?
02:50 And certainly it's another game, it's a different game.
02:52 It's a worthy opponent, they're a really good team.
02:55 But play the game, right, play your game.
02:57 >> I don't know if we've asked you yet, do you know Deion well?
03:00 Have you guys crossed paths over the years?
03:02 >> No, I don't know him well.
03:03 I know of him, obviously, everyone knows of him.
03:06 We actually, when I was at Georgia, I got to be around Shadur a few times, and
03:11 he was recruited by us.
03:12 So very familiar with him, but don't know him personally.
03:15 >> What were your impressions of Shadur during that process?
03:17 Just how he seemed gross and- >> Well,
03:18 I think he's absolutely grown as a player, right?
03:21 He's a guy that makes a tick for them on offense.
03:23 He's operating at a really high level.
03:25 Like I said before, Sean Lewis has done a phenomenal job with that offense.
03:28 He creates a lot of issues, and he has him playing at a really high level as well.
03:31 >> Can I ask you, your memories of Coach Prime as a player back in the day,
03:35 what do you remember there?
03:36 >> The high step, yeah, I remember the high step, man.
03:38 I mean, dynamic returner, dynamic guy.
03:42 When he's matched up, it's gonna be hard to complete a pass.
03:45 >> Something like recruiting against him in their operation, Danny?
03:49 Because they're so public in a lot of things that they do,
03:51 I'd say it's probably a bit unique in that way.
03:53 But from your perspective on the recruiting trail,
03:55 what is it like recruiting against them right now?
03:57 >> It doesn't change a lot of our process, but
03:59 it's fun when there's other people in the conference that are recruiting at a high
04:01 level, right?
04:01 But it doesn't change a lot of our process.
04:03 They do a good job.
04:04 They go after premier players, but so do we.
04:07 >> Coach, with Nick Williams back in the day when he was first starting at Georgia,
04:12 what did you perhaps teach him that you'll probably be seeing this weekend?
04:15 And things that kinda stick out about him to you?
04:18 >> I didn't teach Nick a lot.
04:19 He's a great worker.
04:21 He does a good job.
04:22 He's relentless.
04:23 It'll be fun to see him out there this weekend.
04:25 [BLANK_AUDIO]
04:27 >> All right, thanks coach.
04:28 >> Thanks, Andy.
04:29 >> Take care.
