We asked people are there dangerous dogs or just bad owners?
Transcript
00:00 today asking people about their, there's this possible upcoming ban on the XL
00:03 bully dog breed, it might be added to the dangerous dogs list. I guess we're
00:07 asking people if they think there are any dangerous dogs or is it the owners
00:10 responsibility? What comes to mind when I ask that?
00:13 I think it's mostly the owners responsibility.
00:15 Right.
00:16 It comes down to that.
00:18 Yeah.
00:18 Yeah, I think there's some dog breeds that could be considered dangerous, like the bullies because they're really big and muscular dogs, but then it does also come down to
00:27 sort of who's holding the lead and who's in control and who's turning them.
00:31 Is this something that can be solved with more laws and more regulation or is there a different way of going about this do you think?
00:37 I think maybe some regulations on the way it's measured and stuff like that, but I don't think there's a lot you can do with banning them. I think that'll just upset people more.
00:49 Yeah, there's not much else you can really do than sort of regulate who can have them, what sort of environment they're in.
00:57 There's this upcoming ban on the possibly on the XL bully dog breed, it might be added to the dangerous dogs list. I guess we're asking people if they think dogs are dangerous, if there are any dangerous dogs or is it the owners that are the problem? What comes to mind?
01:10 Yeah, so I think it is an interesting point because there are some dogs that are definitely bigger and have bigger teeth and could be perceived as more dangerous, but I don't think inherently due to their genetics or anything they are more likely to attack. I think all of that sort of instinct comes from the owner, I reckon.
01:30 Is this a case where there should be more regulation in any kind of direction or is there a solution you can think of?
01:36 I think the regulation is similar to how you control guns and things, you make sure the person that's getting this dog is equipped to care for it, make sure it's not going to become a violent dog. I think that's the way we go about it.
