00:00 When the inquest into William Tyrrell's disappearance last sat, his foster mother was simply considered
00:07 a grieving parent. Three years later, and she's back at the Coroner's Court defending
00:13 herself. Standing alongside William's foster father, their lawyer issued this statement.
00:19 William's foster mother maintains she had nothing to do with his disappearance and asked
00:25 the police to continue looking for him and the answers as to what happened to William.
00:31 The three-year-old vanished from his foster grandmother's yard on the New South Wales
00:34 Mid North Coast in September 2014. In recent years, police formed a theory that William
00:39 died by accident and his foster mother covered up his death by disposing of his body nearby.
00:45 But their efforts to find his remains have failed and the foster mother has always denied
00:50 any involvement.
00:52 We will never rest until we find out exactly what happened to William.
00:55 Earlier this year, police handed their brief of evidence to prosecutors, seeking advice
01:00 on whether they have enough to charge the foster mother. The court today heard that
01:05 decision will be made by January.
01:07 William's foster mother and foster father hold the position of calling for the disclosure
01:13 of evidence which police suggest forms the basis of criminal proceedings.
01:17 If the DPP decides there is enough evidence to lay charges in this case, the inquest will
01:23 be put on an indefinite hold until after any criminal trial is finalised.
01:28 If they decide not to lay any charges over his disappearance at this stage, the inquest
01:33 will resume for another two weeks in March.
