What began as pain in her shoulder was revealed to be Osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer. Now, Neiva faces intensive chemotherapy on Ward 6, where children with cancer and blood disorders are cared for at Sheffield Children's Hospital.
As a thank you to the doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and other wonderful staff at the hospital, Neiva’s Aunty, Rebecca Kudryk, has already raised £1,500 for Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust and is now preparing to take on the Sheffield 10K on September 24 - during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

00:00 In April 2023, 5-year-old Neva was diagnosed with cancer.
00:05 What began as pain in her shoulder was revealed to be a type of bone cancer called osteosarcoma.
00:12 Now, Neva faces intensive chemotherapy on Ward 6 where her children with cancer and blood disorders are cared for at Sheffield Children's Hospital.
00:21 Neva's condition requires intensive multi-drug chemotherapy in order to improve her chances of being cured.
00:29 This means spending many months in hospital to help manage the side effects of the treatment.
00:33 She has also undergone a complex 12-hour operation in Birmingham Children's Hospital to save her right arm where the tumour was located.
00:42 This involved using a small bone from her leg as a replacement for the bone that had the tumour in it.
00:48 Despite the burdens of treatment, Neva has held her head high, leaping out of bed when she is able to craft, play music, dance, race along corridors in a push-along car.
00:58 And make the most of the brilliant facilities at Sheffield Children's Ward 6.
01:02 As a thank you to the doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and other wonderful staff at Sheffield Children's,
01:09 Neva's auntie, Rebecca Goodrick, has already raised £1,500 for Sheffield Children's as she prepares to take on the Sheffield 10K this Sunday 24th September, the same month as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
01:25 We'd also like to say a big good luck to Rebecca as she takes on the 10K.
