TV presenter Dan Walker used his star power to raise £26,000 for charity at a fundraiser in Sheffield.
The Channel 5 newsreader urged a gathering of businesspeople to pledge £1,000 for The Sheffield 1000, which donates to good causes every week.
Thirteen raised their hands, raising an instant £13,000. The sum was matched by Westfield Health, taking the total to £26,000.

00:00 I'm amazed in all honesty. I was expecting maybe one or two hands to go up to get 12
00:07 people and potentially others signing up as well. You've raised £24,000 for charities
00:13 in Sheffield. It's truly amazing. I'm very thankful and hopefully this is a start for
00:17 something very special.
00:18 Is anybody willing to say, "I would love to jump on board with this charity and support
00:22 you to the tune of £1,000"?
00:24 Okay, I love you all very much.
00:26 How many hands was that by the way? So that's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. Anyone else?
00:35 Rather than one person giving £1,000, what if we got 1,000 people to give £1,000 and
00:40 then everybody's involved in that? It touches everybody. It touches 1,000 people, 1,000
00:44 families and that money actually is linked to a lot more people than it would be if one
00:49 person gave that money.
00:51 So we came up with this idea of the Sheffield 1,000. Could we get 1,000 people in this city
00:57 to give £1 a week?
00:58 Hi, I'm Dave Capper, Chief Executive at Westfield Health and we're here today to supercharge
01:03 the Sheffield 1,000 charity that Dan Walker's heading up. It's a fantastic initiative which
01:08 really follows a premise that if a lot of people do something little, we can make a
01:14 huge difference. And that's really important when we think of the challenges we face in
01:18 Sheffield around health and social inequality.
01:21 Westfield Health, we're committed to matching £50,000 in the hope that at least 50 other
01:27 companies will put forward £1,000 each. That would create £100,000 for the charity to
01:33 continue their fantastic work.
