Former staff of Ansett Australia held a reunion in Canberra at The Mercure in Braddon on Saturday night, more than two decades after the demise of the airline.
There were a lot of laughs, memories and a few tears as staff recalled working for a company that was more like a family.

02:18 I got a phone call at about 3.30 in the morning and I had to call my entire team to tell them what the situation was.
02:28 But because we worked in staff travel, they all came into work and we worked for an extra three or four days bringing all our crew home from all over Australia and Japan and Bali.
02:42 So we worked for a few extra days.
02:46 It's great.
02:48 So many people and everyone's got a permit in their areas of reservations and airports and international but it's just all these so many faces.
02:58 It's great. It's nice.
03:00 Sort of a little like it was yesterday but for 20 years ago.
03:03 No one's changed a bit.
03:05 No.
03:07 Every time we come to one of these events, it's like a big family reunion.
03:13 Everybody knows everybody and we haven't forgot anybody.
03:17 And really I think we should still have the damn airline out there at the airport.
03:21 We should still be doing what we were doing 23 years ago because we'd be doing it a far lot better than what's going on at the moment.
03:30 So anyway, I miss it and I wish that I was still doing it.
03:37 Very sad actually still that it's gone but it's wonderful that everybody really together and yes, comes together.
03:46 There are lots of, well there are two sort of areas, a lot of the really old ones and yeah, lots of the younger ones in service.
03:55 But it was the greatest company that ever was.
03:59 I see all these faces that I haven't seen and I've lived away from Canberra for 20 years now.
04:04 We moved to Brisbane about a month before ANSET collapsed with ANSET.
04:10 So it's a big life change for us but I just feel like I'm home.
04:14 I feel I'm with familiar people and it was a career that we loved and it was just wonderful.
04:19 I just feel so comfortable here.
04:21 It's really good.
04:23 Alec, how are you mate?
04:27 Good to see you.
04:29 It's shocking, all her family's to fear. I wonder where the next paycheck is going to be.
04:35 Really, really scary times.
04:37 Not many people had any idea that it was bad.
04:42 No, no.
04:44 We all thought it was so.
04:46 Yeah, we did.
04:48 Really scary times.
