11.th Generation with Smart Rotary Dial. New Honda ACCORD 2024
New Honda Accord Arrives in Japan Only as a Hybrid Sedan with Smart Rotary Dial.
The mid-size sedan has finally reached its home market, where it is available only with the 2.0 e:HEV powertrain.
The 11th-generation Honda Accord debuted in North America and then in China in November 2022, but has yet to reach its home market in Japan. That will change next year, as Honda announces the features and availability of the hybrid-only JDM-spec Accord, which will arrive in dealerships in spring 2024.
While the model's exterior is virtually identical to the US-spec Accord except for a slightly different color palette (5 colors) and 18-inch alloy wheels, there are some notable differences in the specs and interior.
Starting with the powertrain lineup, Japanese customers have the option of the only e:HEV self-charging hybrid, which combines a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with dual electric motors and a CVT transmission. Honda hasn't released output figures, but a similar setup produces 181 hp (135 kW / 184 PS) and 315 Nm (232.3 lb-ft) of torque in the Civic e:HEV. Note that non-electric gasoline and plug-in hybrid versions of the Accord are also available in other markets.
Another interesting detail is the configurable circular dial on the center console, which replaces the more traditional climate controls found on the North American model. The "Experience Select Dial," as Honda calls it, is already available on China-spec Accord and Inspire Twin models and makes the infotainment system easier to operate. The user can adjust the volume, temperature, lighting, etc. by pressing the rotary dial. chooses whether to check or not. At the same time, the integrated display carries an analog watch face when not in use.
A 12.3-inch touchscreen for the “ Google Built-in ” infotainment system is combined with a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.5-inch head-up display. Safety equipment includes the latest Honda Sensing 360 ADAS suite, available for the first time in Japan. The kit is expected to be upgraded with more advanced systems in 2025.
Finally, Honda offers two optional visual upgrade packages for the Accord, Sportsline and Touringline. These add different types of bumper and side skirt extensions, decorative side grilles, rear diffuser and lip spoiler in black or body colour, along with new black or diamond-cut 19-inch alloy wheels.
Reservations for the Honda Accord will begin in December 2023, with first deliveries planned for spring 2024.
