00:00 They returned to the Philippines manually and without an online transaction in PhilHealth after their system was hacked.
00:10 The hackers are charging P17 million to fix the cyber attack.
00:17 Did the members compromise?
00:20 Jun Veneracion is on the scene.
00:26 According to a cyber security expert, the ransomware is a type of malicious software that can block access to the computer system and will only disappear when the ransom is paid.
00:45 According to the Department of Information and Communications Technology, the ransom demand of Medusa Group is P300,000 or P17 million, which is behind the cyber attack.
00:56 But PhilHealth's answer is, "Definitely, we will not pay the ransom."
01:01 The group uploaded the information of the documents stolen by Dark Web.
01:06 A cyber security expert who is involved in the case showed us this.
01:11 There is a countdown. PhilHealth has only eight days to pay the ransom.
01:16 If not, the information stolen will be released to the public.
01:21 They are asking for P10,000 or more than half a million pesos for each day of extension of the deadline.
01:27 We are saying that we have proof of life. We have proof of data.
01:31 You cannot get this data in memos because it's an internal document.
01:37 When sensitive information of PhilHealth members is leaked, there is a risk that it can be used for illegal activities such as fraudulent claims.
01:46 According to the DICT, there is a data leak but the members are not affected.
01:51 The National Health Insurance Database is safe and not affected.
01:55 What we got is the personal information, primarily of the employees, and internal memos, internal files of the employees.
02:06 The so-called work files.
02:08 Because the online transaction fell, the process of the benefits of PhilHealth members is manual.
02:14 All online systems of PhilHealth were shut down to assess the extent of the effect of the cyber attack and to protect other information.
02:23 Hopefully, within the day or early tomorrow morning, we will have an app system to return our normal operations.
02:33 According to the monitoring of experts, it will be true if the group is banned.
02:37 Once you are not yet settled, they will publish the data and anyone can download it, especially if you have access to the dark web.
02:46 What happened to PhilHealth is proven that the government agencies need to spend more and strengthen the cybersecurity.
02:54 For GMA Integrated News, June Veneracion, 24 Hours.
