00:01 Hello.
00:02 I'm here because I want to tell you something.
00:06 Something really important to me.
00:08 I'm an animator.
00:10 I think the stock answer to the definition of animation is
00:15 any form of filmmaking that's rendered a frame at a time.
00:19 But I think that definition is getting more and more obsolete
00:22 because you have live action,
00:24 you have computer-generated backgrounds and all that.
00:29 I've always had quite a broad interest in messing around with images.
00:33 I just love minutely controlled live action films
00:38 being controlled frame by frame.
00:41 When you look at where animation comes from,
00:51 it's way older than we usually think of.
00:57 Those images that stick on the retina of our eyes
01:00 and are replaced by other images,
01:02 bringing the illusion of life.
01:05 The exciting thing about animation is it can morph and change
01:15 and it can go anywhere, any environment, create anything.
01:19 The whole idea of bringing things to life, it's thrilling.

01:27 When I'm working long hours, this finger becomes sore,
01:36 so then I move to this finger,
01:39 and then that finger, which has no talent whatsoever.
01:43 Then I'll move to my other hand.

01:53 Any film that's a good film has animation in it.
01:59 Let's just say that.
