A pledge from Caerphilly Council to build a thousand new homes has been welcomed by opposition councillors, but there are fears the plans could be a ‘drop in the ocean’. The council say there are 6 thousand people currently waiting for housing in the authority, and more housing will be needed in the future.

A pub once visited by world famous playwright Dylan Thomas is to receive a 300 thousand pound investment for renovations. The money, from the UK government’s community ownership fund, will be put towards making the pub greener and available to the whole community in Ystrad Aeron.
