The city council voted to approve spending measures and endorsed the financial recovery plan. It is expected that council owned assets will be sold, as well as job cuts and a rise in council tax.

A man from Handsworth has been jailed after pleading guilty to the manslaughter of a resident on his street when a row broke out last year. LeSean Williams, aged 20, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three years in prison on Monday.

Landowners of The New Inn pub have reacted to claims that the bar is to be demolished as a petition has been launched to save it. A spokesperson for Redcat they have no intention to sell the pub, nor have they considered a change of use for the property.
