00:00 Good morning and we're here with the owner of Cat Cafe, Sir Dennis!
00:05 Hi!
00:06 Sir Dennis, how did you come up with the concept of having a cat and a cafe at the same time?
00:13 It's different in other countries, like Japan, Taiwan, even in the States.
00:19 There are a lot of cat cafes there.
00:21 So last year, my partner went to Japan and he said there are a lot of cat cafes there.
00:27 And every town, every barangay has a cat cafe.
00:32 So we thought, why not have a cat cafe here in Manila?
00:34 So we thought of bringing the concept of a cat cafe and we made the Cat Cafe Manila here in Maguinawa.
00:39 The cats here are the Pinoy cats, right?
00:43 Yes.
00:44 So these are the ones you're taking care of, George?
00:46 Yes.
00:47 But you also said earlier, when we were off-cam, they can adapt to the cats.
00:53 In the Philippines, there are a lot of stray cats, Pinoy cats.
00:57 So we thought of educating people.
01:00 Because if you see stray cats, if you take good care of them, they become good pets.
01:05 And you teach them, they get fat, they become cute.
01:09 People can come here, our customers can come here, and get to know them.
01:13 After they get to know them, they can adapt.
01:16 What can they do to adapt? Do you have to do this or that to get a cat?
01:24 There's a process where you fill out an application form, and there's an interview and a house visit.
01:31 It's not that hard to find a job.
01:34 So it's just a house visit to find out how their house is conducive to the cats.
01:40 And it's true, Sir Dennis, because BFF, you know, when we went here earlier,
01:46 I invited a cat lover, and she wants to adapt to cats.
01:51 Why are you so many, Nart?
01:53 Yes, she's here now.
01:55 Really?
01:56 Miss Cecil, there she is.
01:58 Hi, Mommy Cecil.
02:00 Mommy Cecil, you're fond of cats.
02:03 Yes, since I moved here.
02:05 Because in our place, we used to have a fire, and the cat saved us.
02:09 How many cats do you have in your house?
02:13 Ten cats?
02:14 When the cat died, I didn't know where it went.
02:18 I cried, and I posted it on Facebook.
02:22 I thought maybe it was caught in a trap.
02:24 So now you want to have more cats?
02:26 Yes, because cats take a long time to grow.
02:29 Sometimes, I can't even watch them.
02:31 So I thought maybe I can replace them.
02:34 So you mean you just got those cats from the streets?
02:37 Yes, I saw one.
02:39 It had a long leg.
02:41 I called it, and it had a head that was for feeding.
02:45 And it had a neck.
02:47 And when you fed it, it would leave.
02:49 Really?
02:50 Yes.
02:51 I had one before.
02:52 There.
02:53 It's so cute.
02:55 And it had five cats that were both ampulatory.
02:58 So I called it, "Cat, cat."
03:00 And the cat said, "Me?
03:02 What?"
03:05 BFF?
03:07 You're a support there.
03:08 You have a lot of cats.
03:10 So I can take care of Mommy Cecil.
03:13 So Mommy Cecil,
03:14 here at the Cat Cafe in Manila,
03:17 you can adopt cats.
03:19 What can they do, like you said earlier?
03:23 You can get to know the cats here.
03:26 You saw earlier that you adopted a cat with a yellow leg.
03:30 We had a cat here before.
03:32 It's name was Peggy.
03:33 It's an amputated cat.
03:35 It has a peg leg, so we called it Peggy.
03:38 What if, Sir Dennis,
03:39 I saw a stray cat on the street.
03:42 Can I go here to take care of it?
03:45 First of all,
03:46 we don't allow other cats outside.
03:49 We don't know if they have bacteria or are sick.
03:54 So that the customers and the cats here are safe.
03:57 And secondly, the cats are very territorial.
04:00 So what we do here,
04:02 before, cats were left here.
04:04 So outside our door,
04:06 we left 4 cats outside.
04:09 What we do is,
04:10 we take them to their cage
04:11 so they can take care of them.
04:13 And they test the cats to see if they're okay.
04:16 If they're okay,
04:17 they're allowed to come here.
04:18 Yes, they can.
04:19 Someone sent a kitten here,
04:21 about a month old.
04:23 It's still small.
04:24 It can't come here yet.
04:25 So we sent it to the cage.
04:28 When it's a bit bigger,
04:30 they can come here.
04:31 We let them stay here.
04:32 And here's more!
04:33 Mommy and BFF,
04:35 this cafe has a twist.
04:37 They have a bestseller here.
04:39 Really?
04:40 Where can people visit here?
04:41 What's the bestseller here, Sir Dennis?
04:43 The Poriochi Shake.
04:45 So, "po" like cat, "po".
04:47 Poriochi Shake.
04:49 It's delicious.
04:51 It's delicious.
04:52 Mommy, try it.
04:53 So Sir Dennis,
04:54 our viewers who want to come here,
04:57 where can they contact you
04:59 you can contact them.
05:01 We're on the second floor of 189.
