00:00 Welcome to the WrestleTalk News, I'm Pete Quinnell.
00:08 Women's wrestling has been a hot topic in the wrestling sphere lately, with criticism
00:12 being levied against both AEW and WWE for their booking of their respective women's
00:17 divisions, not giving them enough time, meaningful stories, etc.
00:21 WWE got a shot in the arm in the form of Jade Cargill signing with them, but Becky Lynch
00:25 spoke to the New York Post recently and has her misgivings about WWE's booking of the
00:29 women right now.
00:30 "Currently, we are a little light on women with credibility on Raw.
00:34 So any way I can give these women, who are great, credibility, give them a match, giving
00:38 them an outing and showcase them in a championship match, I think that only benefits everybody.
00:43 I need people to come up.
00:44 I need people on this level.
00:46 But if nobody's getting any TV time, if nobody's getting any story time, then they
00:50 can't rise up because nobody knows who the hell they are."
00:53 She then specifically named Zoey Stark, Indi Hartwell, Xia Li and Candice LeRae as people
00:58 who have the potential to be elevated to another level.
01:01 Becky also noted in the interview that she did indeed request to work with Tegan Nox
01:05 for her NXT Women's Championship Open Challenge on Raw a couple of weeks ago, but was booked
01:09 to face Natalya instead.
01:11 She then finished by saying, "I'm very grateful for my time, but I want more time,
01:15 damn it."
01:16 Which seems to be the most common complaint among fans and talent alike, is that they
01:19 just want women's wrestling to be featured more, they just want more time.
01:23 And it doesn't seem like a particularly crazy request when there's three hours of
01:26 Raw, two of Smackdown plus NXT and PLE's for WWE, and two hours of Dynamite, two hours
01:30 of Collision and one hour of Rampage per week for AEW.
01:34 Something else that's been in the wrestling sphere in the past week is the unfortunate
01:37 match between Jon Moxley and Rey Fenix on last week's Dynamite, where due to Moxley
01:40 receiving a concussion early in the match, an audible was called and Fenix won the International
01:45 Championship.
01:46 While the immediate ramifications are obvious, meaning that whatever story was planned for
01:50 Moxley and his title reign had to be shelled, there was something much more immediate that
01:54 had to be pulled too, as Fightful Select is reporting that right after Moxley was scheduled
01:59 to successfully retain his belt, there was an angle that was supposed to happen.
02:03 This angle would have seen a non-AEW wrestler appear and challenge Moxley for WrestleDream,
02:09 however when the winner was changed, the angle was also reportedly pulled.
02:13 Considering that we have a Zack Sabre Jr and a Will Ospreay on the card for WrestleDream,
02:17 I think it could be a safe bet to say that this non-AEW wrestler would be New Japan shaped,
02:23 though that is obviously just speculation on my part.
02:26 Which is a massive shame if they had some big plans for the Mox match.
02:30 In the finish of the Moxley vs Fenix match, referee Ric Nox didn't count the three despite
02:35 Moxley's shoulders being down, resulting in another piledriver needing to be hit for
02:39 the three count to go through, and Fightful Select is reporting that while Nox is liked
02:43 backstage, there was heavy heat on him for this botch in the company, as this wasn't
02:47 the first time something like this had happened with him as referee.
02:51 Because Oli is on holiday in Japan we'll be heading to Luke shortly, but first a message
02:55 from everybody's favourite, Turbo Jake.
02:59 And that is why the chicken crossed the road.

03:34 He ain't lasting longer than Turbo Jake, let me tell you that.

03:52 Of course you do!
03:54 Thanks there, Turbo Jack.
03:56 It's now Thursday so you know what that means, it's time for my review of AEW Dynamite
04:01 the go-home edition for WrestleDREAM edition of AEW Dynamite… in about 5 minutes.
04:08 Last week's Grand Slam was a mixed bag.
04:10 The in-ring action was fantastic, but it was marred by the accidental injuries of both
04:14 Adam Cole and Jon Moxley.
04:16 As Pete covered in the news, this meant that some plans have had to change for this weekend's
04:20 PPV, and when plans need to change, you must pull the emergency lever.
04:25 And in this case, and is always the case, the emergency lever makes a brrreee-woo-brreee-woo-brreee-woo
04:31 sound.
04:32 Because the opening match of this week's Dynamite was Rey Fenix defending his newly
04:36 won international champion against Team TNA's Jeff Jarrett.
04:40 As one would expect, this was a well-heated match and it featured all the usual Team TNA
04:44 shenanigans, as Fenix essentially battled 5-on-1 to retain his title with an inside
04:49 cradle, Satnam Singh got involved, J-Lethal got involved, and Sonjay Dutt accidentally
04:53 put his hands on Karrot Jarrett's breasts.
04:56 You know, wrestling.
04:57 There was some concern last week, from me in particular, that TK might not be able to
05:02 pivot his plans for the International Championship as he often doesn't deal well with changed
05:07 plans - but a good title defence here and a huge match set up for next week is at least
05:11 a step in the right direction.
05:13 MJF and Cole hung out on a boat, don't you ever forget, where Maxwell wanted to ask Adam
05:19 why he spent so long on the phone to Roderick Strong that it made him late to support him
05:24 against Samoa Joe.
05:25 Cole explained that "you can have more than one friend" - a strange concept to young
05:31 Max, so strange in fact that he got the Dynamite diamond ring out of a beer cooler with the
05:35 intention of turning on Cole and throwing him in the sea.
05:39 This legitimately got a reaction from the crowd, like an actual audible gasp.
05:45 But Max didn't turn, and then they caught a big fish.
05:48 Wait, that's not a big fish, it's a big show.
05:51 They then shared a beer with Captain Insane.
05:54 You know, wrestling.
05:56 Don Callis and Takeshi wanted to beat up Kota Ibushi so bad, they travelled all the way
05:59 to Japan to do so.
06:01 Watch out Oli, Don Callis is in Japan, stay safe man.
06:05 This was an effective angle to build their trios match this weekend as Don and Sami cut
06:09 promos on Ibushi, Omega and Jericho.
06:11 Like yeah it was fine, but for all the fineness of it all, it would have been better if Omega,
06:17 Jericho and Ibushi had been there.
06:19 Ricky Starks said that Bryan Danielson couldn't finish the job on Collision, and a match was
06:22 made between him and Wheeler Yuta for WrestleDream.
06:25 Rey Fenix's next challenger was revealed in our following triple threat as Nick Jackson
06:29 took on Claudio Castagnoli and Brian Cage - the winner of which will face Fenix for
06:33 the title at the Anniversary show next week.
06:36 Gee, I wonder who will win here.
06:39 The crowd were electric for this wild and fantastic action, and it was a fun finish
06:45 as Claudio hit the Ricola Bomb on Cage, and Nick Jackson did a surprise Springboard Hurricane
06:50 Runner to Claudio to send him out of the ring and land on Cage for the pin.
06:55 You heard that right, he did a sneak attack Springboard Hurricane Runner.
07:00 Tremendous.
07:01 And it sets up Nick Jackson vs. Rey Fenix on the Anniversary show, playing back the
07:05 all-time classic Dynamite match.
07:08 But I think that's enough wrestling for now, because we're about to have not one,
07:12 not two, not three, not five, but four talking segments in a row.
07:17 The first was the Righteous cutting a video promo telling Better Than You Bebe that it's
07:20 easier to forgive enemies than fake friends.
07:23 And Better Than You Bebe came out for a promo segment to reveal that Adam Cole is indeed
07:28 injured.
07:29 And it's a bad one, folks.
07:31 Cole basically explained that his ankle exploded and he needs surgery.
07:36 Deadlock Pro announced on Twitter that Cole has been pulled from his November 12th appearance
07:40 for that show, which means it'll be towards the end of the year before we see Adam Cole
07:45 back in the ring.
07:47 And because of that, he has to relinquish the Ring of Honor Tag Team Championships.
07:52 But Max doesn't want to.
07:54 He knows how much these titles mean to Adam, so he's going to defend them against the
07:58 Righteous at WrestleDream in a handicap match.
08:01 He's going to keep these titles warm and ready for when Cole gets back.
08:05 But then came the call of Roderick Strong, who came out to tell Adam that he really needs
08:10 to talk to him about something very important.
08:13 Conflicted, Cole didn't know what to do, so he left with the blessing of Max, who learned
08:18 that some people can have more than one friend.
08:21 But if you thought that was the end of that segment, you'd be wrong.
08:24 Because J White came out!
08:26 Kind of like how with Swerve interrupting Adam Page a few weeks back, this really made
08:30 me sit up in my seat with a, huh, I hadn't thought about this combination.
08:34 I'm super into this.
08:36 The two cut fantastic promos, with Max telling J that he is just a mass-produced idea of
08:43 what a top guy looks like in Japan with everything provided to him, while Max is an actual top
08:48 guy who made a name for himself without being handed the keys to the biggest faction on
08:54 the planet.
08:55 I fired up Max wanted a fight, but J White left.
08:57 An excellent segment this was.
09:00 And the talking continued as Darby Allin and Christian Cage had a brilliant sit down interview
09:04 with Jim Ross to hype their match this weekend.
09:07 Oh yeah, this is a wrestling show isn't it?
09:09 And we got some excellent wrestling with fun PWG action with a fatal four way between Austin
09:13 Gunn, Matt Jackson, Pentagon Jr and Orange Cassidy.
09:16 This was all about giving the crowd a fun spectacle, and they got that with a series
09:20 of Canadian Destroyer spots and an Orange Punch from out of nowhere for an Orange Cassidy
09:24 win.
09:25 Because it turns out she's a surprising ratings draw, Julia Hart got more TV time
09:28 this week and had a great match with Willow Nightingale.
09:31 We saw Willow get Julia in the Tree of Woe, but Hart popped up to avoid the cannonball
09:35 and hit a lovely moonsault for the win.
09:37 The women's division has its issues in AEW, but there is no denying that Julia Hart has
09:42 improved massively over the last couple of years.
09:44 She is 21 years old.
09:46 And she was also the main event as the last thing on the show was a contract signing between
09:50 Sueb Strickland and Adam Cole, which featured more fantastic promo work from both guys.
09:55 They all brawled, and that was the end of the show.
09:58 Or was it?
10:00 Because they cut backstage to find that Jey White has been attacked by Retribution, ordered
10:05 by a man in the MJF Devil Mask.
10:08 Maybe I'm a basic bitch, but this angle along with the promise of a new era of AEW
10:13 kicking off this weekend, this intrigue really made me super stoked for WrestleDream and
10:19 next week's Dynamo or even this weekend's Collision.
10:21 But this was an odd show this week.
10:23 Every segment was great, every match was great, but the long stretch of talking in only four
10:29 matches meant the show felt really off balance.
10:32 I loved everything, but I think it's a 3 out of 5 show.
10:36 I may be tempted to bump it up to 4 for that closing angle.
10:40 So it's a 3 or a 4.
10:42 I'll let you decide.
10:45 You tell me in the comments down below.
10:46 But hey go and check out this video here where we fantasy book how you could do Jade Cargill's
10:51 WWE debut and enjoy this outtake of me trying to do that Crash Zoom spot.
10:56 They all brawled and that was the end of the show.
11:00 Or was it?
11:01 Sorry I knocked over a battery.
11:05 I'll try that again without any accidental knocking over of things.
11:08 I've now lost my place.
11:11 Where am I?
11:12 This has all fallen apart.
11:13 I can get this right.
11:14 One second.
11:14 (upbeat music)
