00:00 Thank you, it's Alistair from the Sheffield Star. We're no more than out here asking people how they feel about the loss of Wilco from the High Street.
00:06 The one in Sheffield for example is going to close on October 8th, so it's got just under two weeks to go. How do you feel about the loss of it?
00:12 How do you feel about that?
00:14 I mean I'm quite sad. I usually get my stationery from Wilco and I feel like it's quite reasonably priced and we always enjoy going on those little shopping trips.
00:24 Yeah I know, I think Wilco provide good products for great prices and I enjoy going there on the other side. I go there every week, I would say once a week.
00:36 It's not necessarily to buy something, just to browse sometimes. It is kind of sad.
00:43 Can you understand why it's going or do you think it's slight doesn't make any sense?
00:46 I actually have no idea, I didn't read anything about it.
00:50 I think having it been outpriced due to Covid, it probably wouldn't surprise me.
00:56 Probably a factor, yeah. Other than if it's the old bricks to clicks or just generally like a lesser support.
01:02 Oh, one of those. I was going to ask if it's one you went to every, is it a regular shop or is it one you go for a big shop? You only go there when you need a big something or another.
01:11 Not necessarily, I don't really plan what I'm buying there, I just go there to browse sometimes. Sometimes I go there, well actually I go there to buy sponges.
01:20 They have a good deal with the sponges, I did get 10 for £1 or was it £10 or £20? I don't remember actually.
01:27 A lot. Yeah, that's a big difference I know but I actually don't remember.
01:31 Thank you, it's Alistair from the Sheffield Star and we're out here today asking people how they feel about the loss of Wilko's. The one here in Sheffield is going to be gone by October 8th for example.
01:39 I wonder how you feel about that or if it affects you at all?
01:42 Well it doesn't particularly affect me in Sheffield itself because I live out of town but there is a very large superstore near where I live.
01:48 But that has closed down of course and it's just a huge space now that's quite derelict and empty and I just fear what's going to happen to the future for that space.
01:57 It's in a shopping retail park and it's just a big space that's wasted now.
02:03 You weren't a very often customer there yourself then?
02:05 Personally I didn't shop there very very often, me too.
02:09 Can you see a recovery where something else might move in one day or do you think this might be a loss completely?
02:15 I can't really say but there are other spaces in the retail park as well that haven't been filled recently and I think it's just a sign of the times.
