00:00 Film Boss explains how Tom Cruise may become first civilian to do spacewalk for out of
00:05 this world role.
00:07 If all goes to plan, real-life action man Tom Cruise will soar to brand new heights
00:12 in his next movie, with talks for the star to do a spacewalk with the International Space
00:17 Station.
00:18 We know, is there anything that the Mission/Impossible star can't do or won't do for the right
00:24 movie?
00:25 He learned to fly planes, and helicopters, scaled cliffs, climbed mountains, even abseiled
00:31 down the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa.
00:35 Now, the 51-year-old could become the first civilian in history to take a stroll through
00:40 space for an untitled Universal movie.
00:43 According to the studio, the Top Gun actor would be flown into space, before disembarking
00:49 from the rocket, all of which would be filmed on camera for the movie.
00:54 Reels chairwoman Dame Donna Langley explained to the BBC, "We have a great project in development
00:59 with Tom that does contemplate him taking a rocket to the space station."
01:04 And hopefully he will become the first civilian to do a spacewalk outside of the International
01:09 Space Station.
01:11 She also revealed a few details about Cruise's character in the Secretive Project, "He will
01:16 play A down on his luck guy who finds himself in the position of being the only person who
01:21 could save Earth."
01:23 While the ambitious creative endeavour is still an aspiration for the studio right now,
01:28 it's a collaborative effort between art and science, with Elon Musk's SpaceX and NASA
01:33 both on board to assist with the project.
01:36 Bourne Identity director Doug Liman will direct the movie, after famously filming a movie
01:41 in the pandemic in London aptly called Lockdown starring Chywele Ejiofor and Anne Hathaway.
01:48 After Liman shared the logistical difficulties with that movie, he's more confident about
01:52 filming a movie set in space.
01:55 He explained, "Via Thrust, it connects to the space station and the space station itself.
02:04 It's a lot of work, but it's worth it."
