00:00 Hello there, Joe Donoghue here from the Yorkshire Evening Post at St Mary's Stadium on the South
00:06 Coast where Leeds United have just lost 3-1 to Southampton. The six-game unbeaten run
00:12 has come to an end and the four-game stretch where Leeds kept consecutive clean sheets
00:17 has also come to an end. In, well, disappointing fashion really, Leeds weren't at the races
00:26 today. Simple as that. It was very much an off day compared to recent performances. I
00:31 don't think Daniel Farker could really put his finger on where things went wrong in his
00:36 post-match press conference. There were fingers pointed in some of the questions which were
00:44 asked, but Daniel Farker was very keen not to throw anybody under the bus, I think. It
00:51 wasn't a good performance from a lot of players. Quite a few off days in there. I think I'd
00:56 single out Liam Cooper, Glenn Kamara, Sam Byram, Jamie Shackleton. All struggled this
01:05 afternoon in the lunchtime kick-off. Going 3-0 down within, I think it was 35 minutes
01:12 or so was really disappointing to see because this Leeds team have been very resolute recently.
01:18 The defence in particular has been something to write home about, but today that wasn't
01:23 the case. Got one back in the second half through Pascal Struyck. Deserved to get a
01:31 goal from the work that he did in terms of taking the ball down in the penalty area from
01:38 the recycling of corner. Apart from that, Leeds were just lacking that quality today.
01:44 Joel Pirro as well was one who maybe didn't have his best game in a Leeds shirt, was pretty
01:51 ineffectual, didn't really have that much of an influence on the game, which again,
01:57 disappointing. It's not panic stations, it's only one game. Leeds are still reasonably
02:04 placed in the Championship table, but they're not in Leicester's position where you might
02:13 lose a game and then you're still top of the league or you're still in the top two.
02:16 In the playoffs, I think they might drop out depending on the results today, which are
02:19 ongoing. A difficult one, I think it's fair to say, for the fans who are here today.
02:28 Packed out away and didn't stop singing, which you always expect at Leeds. But just
02:33 didn't see the quality that's been on show the past few weeks. We'll keep it brief
02:40 as Leeds are playing again on Wednesday night at QPR at Ellon Road. We'll be there covering
02:45 that one. Not as happy a hunting ground as it has been in recent years at St Mary's,
02:54 or at least as it could have been today if Leeds had continued the run. If you're watching
03:00 this in the car on the way home or the coach, or however you're getting back and you're
03:02 at the game, do get home safely. We'll see you back at Ellon Road twice next week because
03:09 because it's Bristol City on Saturday as well.
03:11 But bye for now.
