00:03 The WWE superstar Darren Drozdov was 30 years old in 1999.

00:09 He was an outstanding multiple sport athlete, a former defensive tackle for the University

00:15 of Maryland who had a short NFL career and went on to become one of WWE's brightest

00:21 prospects on October 5th of that year at a WWE TV taping at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale,

00:28 NY.

00:29 In a heartbeat, the 6-foot-3-inch, 280-pounder became a quadriplegic with essentially no

00:36 movement below the neck.

00:37 A basic pro wrestling maneuver called a powerbomb delivered to Drozd by veteran grappler D.L.O.

00:43 Brown went terribly wrong and the multiple people's lives were changed forever.

00:49 The incident became a highlight reel moment for the Denver Broncos nose tackle.

00:54 It earned Drozd the nickname "Puke" which caught the interest of WWE Chairman Vince

00:58 McMahon.

00:59 When we went with Drozd in McMahon's office, the likable and charismatic athlete puked

01:04 in the chairman's trash can on camera.

01:07 He was paralyzed since 1999 and it's with deep loss and the sense of sadness that we

01:13 are informing that he is no more.

01:15 "We are failing right now," Krister family says in a statement.

01:18 "We would like to extend our deepest appreciation to everyone, all of his fans, teammates, colleagues

01:23 and friends for all the love and support he received over the years.

01:27 You all gave him meaning, purpose and something to live for the rest of the family.

01:31 A continuity that he loved each and every day of you and cherished the conversations,

01:37 not the letters only he received.

01:39 His faith in humanity never parted so now that for all of the love you've shown him,

01:45 the love you took back and the drop stuff," the family added.

01:51 Krister was initially introduced to the sports world through football when he played and

01:55 not God knows in the name of what.

01:57 He played for NFL for three seasons but following the end of his playing days, he found his

02:02 true calling in the wrestling, first appearing in ECW before debuting with the WWE in 1998.

02:10 Dressed up initially, competed under the bust, don't even talk about the nickname he had,

02:15 previously been given for his affairs for the throw.
