00:36 Thor was a great warrior,
00:39 and an even greater brother.
00:43 Though he has disappeared,
00:47 and likely dead,
00:50 he shall never be forgotten.
00:53 I shall strive all my days
00:57 to take his place as prince
01:00 and future king.

01:14 Loki!
01:18 You'll pay for this!
01:20 Ah, damn.
01:22 You turned me into a frog!

01:28 [Music]
01:35 Yeah, I remember. I was there.
01:37 Anything else?
01:39 It's funny, for someone born to rule,
01:42 you sure do lose a lot.
01:44 You might even say it's in your nature.
01:46 You know, things didn't turn out so well
01:48 for the last person who said that to me.
01:50 [Music]
01:52 Enough!
01:54 I am a god, you dull creature.
01:56 Stop trying to be a hero.
01:58 You're a villain, and you're good at it.
02:00 Always have been.
02:02 Always will be.
02:03 [Music]
02:07 We have one shot at this.
02:09 Whatever we do, we're playing God.
02:11 What could we have done differently?
02:13 No!

02:39 So all you have to do to enter that is just be a subscriber
02:41 and let me know where you want to see Frog Thor or Throg come back
02:44 in future Loki episodes or future movies.
02:47 Really hoping for a Throg vs. Alligator Loki episode.
02:50 Some of those Loki Season 1 characters will come back,
02:53 but basically this scene was meant to take place during episode 1
02:56 when Loki is being interrogated by Mobius for that first time
02:58 like at the very beginning of the episode after the TVA arrests him
03:01 and shows him a highlight reel of all the L's that he's taken across all the Marvel movies.
03:06 The big joke being that at this point in the timeline,
03:08 this version of Loki, like right after the events of the first Avengers movie,
03:11 was still really high on himself, even though he just lost hard to the Avengers.
03:15 So that's why when he first showed up at the TVA,
03:17 he was shouting at them why he was Loki the god of mischief,
03:20 why he would burn the place to the ground, how dare they try to hold him.
03:23 And Mobius was basically just raking him over the coals like,
03:25 "Alright, let's play this back a couple times and see how many times you actually did win."
03:29 "Oh look, it seems like you won about zero times."
03:31 And apparently there were a couple scenes during this highlight reel
03:34 that he showed of Loki's life up to this point that they deleted,
03:37 this being one of the biggest ones.
03:39 There's a big Coulson shout-out at the end of that clip too,
03:42 where Loki says, "It didn't go well for the last person that told me it wasn't in my nature."
03:46 "Honey, for someone born to rule, you sure do lose a lot."
03:51 "You might even say it's in your nature."
03:53 "You know, things didn't turn out so well for the last person who said that to me."
03:57 "You're going to lose."
03:59 "Am I?"
04:02 "It's in your nature."
04:05 There's gonna be so many questions about Coulson and agents of SHIELD,
04:08 what's canon, what's not canon to all the MCU stuff going forward.
04:11 It's been happening since agents of SHIELD debuted in the first place
04:14 after he died in the Avengers movie.
04:16 Tahiti, it's a wonderful place.
04:18 The interesting thing though is they actually got Chris Hemsworth to do a bigger cameo scene
04:21 than what we saw during the actual episode.
04:23 He did do the grunts for Frog Thor in the jar in the later episodes.
04:26 I'll talk about that in a second too.
04:28 But I know there's lots of people that are wondering if he'd ever come back and cameo in the Loki series.
04:32 It's always possible that he did during season two.
04:34 I'm not expecting it though, just based on what the actors said long before season one premiered.
04:38 It sounds like what they did is they got Chris Hemsworth to come back for episode one for that deleted scene.
04:43 But then they also had him record dialogue for what they did during episode five with Frog.
04:48 So in the actual episode we saw, there was a version of Frog Thor in a jar labeled T-365
04:53 as they're sort of going down into the bunker.
04:55 You see him trapped between layers of dirt trying to escape from his little jar.
04:59 You see a full-size version of Mjolnir in a whole bunch of lunch trays.
05:02 But that was meant to be a reference to the events of Thor issue 365,
05:06 which was the big Frog Thor story this whole Easter egg is based on
05:10 and the basis of Thor's story from Thor Ragnarok about Loki turning him into a frog.
05:15 That was the whole story that Matt Damon's fake Loki was telling during the play at the beginning of the movie.
05:20 I'm a trickster.
05:21 This is so mischievous.
05:23 Sorry about that, Tom. I turned you into a frog.
05:27 It was a wonderful joke.
05:28 It was indeed hilarious.
05:31 The joke with Frog Thor in the void is that it's a version of Thor from those events
05:35 when they were younger where Loki never changed him back into his regular form,
05:39 but instead apparently trapped him in a jar and then they both got pruned by the TVA and sent to the void.
05:44 So basically this Loki deleted scene of frog against Loki ruining his coronation
05:49 took place before the events of all the regular Marvel movies in present day.
05:53 Like this predates the events of the first Thor movie.
05:56 Mobius jokes that it was just one of his many coronation attempts that was foiled.
06:01 So obviously we saw one during Thor Ragnarok where he basically turned himself into King
06:05 and he kind of tried to do that during the first Thor movie too.
06:08 But apparently in addition to this deleted scene, he did it many other times too.
06:12 And a lot of it just pays homage to a lot of the classic Thor comics of Thor versus Loki
06:16 and him causing all kinds of mischief.
06:18 You have to remember in present day Thor is about 1500 years old.
06:21 Loki is pretty close to that age too.
06:23 So they've had many many adventures up to present day before the Marvel movies ever pick up.
06:29 But because the whole thing of the Loki series is dealing with other universes,
06:32 variants of Loki, different timelines.
06:34 This is actually meant to be canon to the MCU.
06:36 What they call the 616 version of Loki for the 616 Marvel comic book universe.
06:41 That's why we heard the fake Loki in the fake Thor joking about it during the play.
06:45 Because they actually had that adventure where he turned him into a frog briefly.
06:49 The difference with the frog Thor in the jar is that's meant to be a variant from another universe.
06:54 Like they caused a Nexus event when Loki put him in the jar and he never escaped.
06:57 But they had Tom Hiddleston performing his part of the scene separately like on his own
07:02 with some motion capture references and then spliced it together with the frog Thor part.
07:06 Because frog Thor is a pure special effect just like alligator Loki.
07:10 So you have to imagine Tom Hiddleston faking getting pummeled by a tiny little frog and a tiny little hammer.
07:16 As awesome as that sounds, the reason they said that they deleted the frog Thor scene
07:20 is because the early part of this episode 1 with them in the time theater felt like it was dragging on in the edit bay.
07:26 They knew that they were going to do the frog Thor Easter egg later in the void during episode 5.
07:30 So technically you can consider that to be a Chris Hemsworth Thor cameo scene.
07:35 Even though it's not exactly what you would expect from a Chris Hemsworth Thor cameo.
07:38 I think the cooler thing about this though is that any other regular director or producer
07:42 wouldn't have bothered to try and get Chris Hemsworth back just to record a bunch of grunts for a frog trying to get out of a jar.
07:48 So you have to imagine them pitching it to Chris Hemsworth like we're going to bring you back to do this special little scene.
07:53 It's going to be great, but it's going to be on a planet full of Lokis and get this you're going to be frog Thor.
07:59 You son of a bitch! I'm in!
08:01 And they didn't pay Chris Hemsworth to do that either.
08:04 He just came back for free to be a total dude just helping them out and because it's just voiceover grunting.
08:09 It was really easy for him to do that remotely in Australia where he was while they were filming Loki in the UK.
08:15 I wasn't really thinking about Chris Hemsworth when I watched the scene the first time.
08:18 But if you rewatch it now and you listen, you know that is Chris Hemsworth. It does sound a little bit like Chris Hemsworth grunts.
08:24 The next big deleted scene they just revealed from episode 5 actually was happening at the end of the episode during the big final battle.
08:31 So it was going to be them fighting a Aliath, but during the deleted scene all of the Loki variants that were left in the void
08:37 were going to rally and help our Loki and Sylvie fight off Aliath.
08:40 And it was going to be like an all Loki version of the Avengers assemble scene from Avengers Endgame.
08:46 Like Loki's assemble, which sounds hilarious and amazing at the same time.
08:50 But the reason they said that that didn't make it into the final episode is because they didn't want it to diminish the triumph of our Loki
08:56 learning to enchant on the fly and the two of them defeating Aliath by themselves.
09:00 Realizing that they could be much more powerful than anyone gives Loki's credit for.
09:04 That's what his little speech about classic Loki was when he was creating that perfect illusion of his version of Asgard
09:10 down to the trees and the cracks in the streets.
09:12 He even added the detail of the lightning bolt as a reference to his version of Thor.
09:16 And our Loki was like we're stronger than people give us credit for.
09:20 So as cool as the Loki's assemble scene would have been, it would have kind of destroyed the weight of that moment.
09:25 The head of production that designed the look of the void with all the Easter eggs and all the cool stuff all over the place
09:30 said that originally it was also going to be way weirder inside the void.
09:35 I'm just going to read his quote about it. He said we were trying to find moments to infuse the void with surrealism.
09:40 So that was the point of the giant heads that they were walking around all the time.
09:44 And also the little void creatures that look like little peacocks.
09:47 So if it wasn't clear, those weren't meant to be any specific reference.
09:50 I was trying to find a comic book reference and a couple people thought that they might have been dodo's or something like that.
09:55 But the way the production designer explains it, they were just meant to be nonsense animals
09:59 that weren't a direct reference to any specific comic book thing.
10:03 So he goes on to say originally at some point I was proposing a far more Salvador Dali-esque,
10:08 Dada-esque version of the void and it evolved over time.
10:11 But those little bird creatures and heads made it through from the Dada-esque version of the English Moors version of the void.
10:18 If you're not familiar with Salvador Dali, he was this really famous Spanish surrealist artist
10:22 renowned for his strange art pieces and paintings involving melting clocks, distorted landscapes, Dadaism.
10:28 Which was this really big European avant-garde art movement from the early 20th century
10:33 that focused on nonsense and irrationality.
10:35 So originally they were just going to have way more nonsense happening in the void and it was going to look way trippier.
10:40 The other big deleted scene that they revealed is actually at the very beginning of the show,
10:44 at the very beginning of episode one, is that Avengers Endgame scene.
10:47 The director Kate Herron said that because they were building the series off of that moment where Loki escapes in Avengers Endgame,
10:53 they basically went into the archives where they store all the footage that they filmed
10:58 and they were just petabytes of footage that they didn't wind up using for Avengers Endgame.
11:01 Just a whole bunch of really cool deleted scenes in alternate versions of scenes that we actually saw in the movie.
11:07 So this whole opening scene with Loki is basically part of just an Avengers Endgame deleted scene.
11:13 This is her quote about that. She says, "It was a lot of fun. I mean, what a treat as a director,
11:17 getting access to the library of the rushes of all these other brilliant filmmakers."
11:21 So basically they said that they had access to all of the footage from all the Marvel movies that they filmed,
11:27 but particularly from Avengers Endgame.
11:29 Then she goes on to say, "That was the really fun thing with the opening,
11:32 was getting to show that moment everyone knows so well, but from a completely different POV,
11:37 just because the Russos shot the scene a couple different ways."
11:40 In related news, you probably just saw in your feeds that Marvel just announced
11:44 that they were actually starting development on their solo X-Men movie.
11:47 Basically meaning that after they wrap up with Avengers Secret Wars and all that stuff,
11:50 we're heading into a big X-Men focused phase, like Marvel phase 7, the mutant saga.
11:56 I'm working on a much bigger video for that that'll post tomorrow.
11:59 Be sure to enable alerts for my channel so you don't miss that.
