00:00 Well, a woman has been taken to Mount Gambier Hospital in a serious condition after a shark
00:06 attack in South Australia's southeast at Beachport.
00:10 Emergency services were called to the Beachport jetty just before 8am this morning after reports
00:16 that a woman had been bitten on the leg by a shark.
00:19 What we're hearing from the scene is this woman was one of a group of 12 swimming at
00:24 the beach at the time.
00:26 Police say the woman was then helped out of the water and given first aid by bystanders
00:31 before paramedics arrived.
00:33 The woman was then taken to Mount Gambier Hospital in serious condition.
00:38 Beachport is a small coastal town situated more than 300km southeast of Adelaide and
00:45 about 30km away from Mount Gambier.
00:49 The well-known tourist destination on South Australia's limestone coast is popular for
00:55 swimming, fishing and surfing.
