00:04 I'm Travis Justice, he's Dr. Rob Zadiska, and we have one hell of a diagnosis for you
00:08 today because we're going to start out with just a mind-blowing play that took place in
00:12 the first quarter.
00:13 Fourth and one, first quarter for the Huskers, Rob, and this one still is trying to make
00:19 sense for me.
00:20 I don't get it.
00:21 And I'm still not sure what's going on here.
00:22 I mean, this is a situation where you pointed out to me, and as you're watching it, they
00:26 can snap the ball right now.
00:27 You've got Harburg under center right here.
00:30 Look at this lane right here.
00:32 Michigan's not even lined up.
00:35 They can snap it.
00:36 Clock's running.
00:37 This is not a situation where they've got to wait for the ref to blow the whistle and
00:42 step back off the ball.
00:43 They can run it right here.
00:44 No, he may score here.
00:45 Look at, yeah, Michigan's completely not ready for this.
00:49 Rules up here, counting down the clock, you'll see this, and you kind of pointed this out
00:53 to me, how he kind of wanders over to the ref.
00:56 The only explanation I have is, could this be a situation where Rule was just, he wanted
01:02 to see what Michigan was going to do, then call timeout and base a play off of that.
01:08 But it's, man, you've got the chance to get the first down right here.
01:11 Just go get the damn first down.
01:13 And you see him right up here at the top of the screen, talking to the ref, right here,
01:19 getting ready to call timeout.
01:21 And it's just, man, it's mind-blowing to me that they didn't just snap it.
01:24 Now, you come back here a little bit later on, right after the timeout, and when you
01:29 look at this, they line up and shotgun.
01:31 They're a full seven yards deep here.
01:34 That's brutal in my mind.
01:36 The other thing that is interesting here is that the lane was there for a second.
01:41 You know, as much grief as we give the offensive line on these, on these Doc's Diagnosis and
01:46 the podcast in general, Turner Corcoran and Ethan Piper blow their dudes up.
01:52 They open up a big hole here over the left guard, which, if Harburg was lined up under
01:59 center, he would have fallen forward and easily gotten the first down.
02:03 So as we watch this go ahead and unfold here, look at this hole there over the left side.
02:10 Like I said, Corcoran and Piper really did a nice job on the play with their blocking
02:15 up front.
02:16 The hole was there if you're under center, and this is one of those situations, to this
02:22 day, and I never will ever understand why when it's a fourth down, fourth and one,
02:29 and you're going for it, the idea of lining up and shotgun is moronic.
02:34 I don't know why coaches do it.
02:36 It's not just rule.
02:37 No, a lot of them do it.
02:39 A lot of very good coaches do it, and I don't understand it, and I never will.
02:44 Yeah, it was a baffling play, and of course, Nebraska was in the red zone.
02:48 Yeah, it's an impactful situation.
02:51 Now, I'm not saying, it doesn't change the outcome of the game.
02:55 I mean, I know some people, well, this could have been sort of a momentum swing.
03:00 No.
03:01 Nebraska would have scored.
03:02 They would have kept it a little closer, but they're still going to lose 45-14 instead
03:07 of 45-7.
03:09 It's not going to change the entire game, but it looks different.
03:14 It gives you a bit of a different feel for the game, and at the end of the day, it's
03:17 one of these things that it's, there's some of these little things you look at, and what
03:22 it tells me is that you've got a coach like Matt Ruhle.
03:26 He's still on a learning curve here, and now, Tom Osborne was on a learning curve for 20
03:30 years before all of a sudden he hit the early 90s, and that curve took off.
03:36 So it's, everybody's on a learning curve.
03:38 So I'm not saying that that's a major fault against Ruhle, but there's things where you're
03:43 looking at with this and these decisions that got to get cleaned up.
03:47 For the record, this is the first time the diagnosis has worked against the coach and
03:51 not the players, and that was all on Matt Ruhle.
