The Nitish Kumar government in Bihar has released findings of its much-awaited caste survey which revealed that OBCs and EBCs constitute a whopping 63% of the state’s total population. With this Bihar has become the first state to release data from the caste-based survey. The report indicates that 36% of the population is from Extremely Backward Classes, 27.1% are from Backward Classes, 19.7% are from Scheduled Castes and 1.7% are from Scheduled Tribes. The general population is 15.5%. The state's total population is over 13.1 crore.
