00:00 playing against the lines?
00:01 >> I would hope so.
00:03 We'll see how they progress this week.
00:04 We have a week to get better and we'll reevaluate it once the next week starts.
00:09 But we hope to have a lot of people back by then.
00:12 >> With Kalijah, the fact that you guys didn't put him on IR normally would say
00:16 you didn't think he was gonna miss four games basically.
00:19 Has that been a more serious injury than expected or
00:22 just kind of being careful to make sure he gets back up?
00:25 >> I was kind of paying us tolerated type of deal.
00:28 You want him 100%.
00:29 He came back last time, he felt it a little bit.
00:32 They wanna be a little more cautious this time.
00:34 >> Todd, of the players that got injured in yesterday's game,
00:36 Kylian Neal and Mike Evans, any updates on them?
00:39 >> Not at this time.
00:40 They gotta get some tests run when they come in.
00:42 We'll have later updates later.
00:44 >> Todd, can you talk about the play of Luke Getteke and Wright Tackle?
00:47 Usually Cam Jordan can be a thorn in your side, but
00:50 it looks like you're looking at the film that he did a very credible job against Cam.
00:56 >> Look, it's a play game.
00:57 Played well the last four games.
00:59 I mean, it wasn't just this game, Cam.
01:00 But a great player, obviously.
01:02 Luke's a lot more comfortable at a right tackle.
01:05 He's at home now.
01:06 He understands it.
01:08 He loves the scheme.
01:09 He works harder than anybody.
01:11 Him and Tristan worked out together all summer.
01:13 And he's holding his own.
01:15 He's playing well.
01:15 You don't notice him because he's not giving up many plays.
01:18 And he's doing a heck of a job for us.
01:20 >> Coach, on that long drive you guys had for the first touchdown,
01:24 there was an array of plays, right?
01:26 You had end rounds to Tompkins.
01:27 You had shovel passes.
01:29 You had even Chris Godwin throwing a pass, I think, at one point.
01:33 I don't know if he's done that since high school.
01:35 He'll do it again.
01:36 But just the ability or the willingness, I guess,
01:40 of your offensive coordinator to pull those out in a senior drive.
01:46 Does it keep everybody stimulated?
01:47 And what's your feeling about that array of different plays?
01:52 >> Man, I love it.
01:52 It's important to keep teams off balance when you got them on the run.
01:56 Going through the same things over and over again and
01:58 keeping everybody interested.
01:59 Everybody can touch the ball on offense.
02:01 Makes everybody wanna play harder, play faster, and it's motivational.
02:05 And he did a heck of a job calling it.
02:07 >> John, I think it was first week of training camp where you said,
02:14 we write our own narrative in response to some national media criticism.
02:17 Sitting here in grade one,
02:18 just how much fun are you having with the guys in that locker room right now?
02:22 >> I mean, it hasn't changed.
02:23 We were having fun in the beginning.
02:24 Again, we write our own narrative.
02:26 It doesn't make us any difference whether they say we're good or bad.
02:29 We write our own narrative, we create our own narrative.
02:32 Everybody loves each other in this building.
02:34 We play for each other, we coach for each other, and we're having fun with it.
02:37 >> Yesterday, you mentioned that this team is morphing into a physical team.
02:41 So I'm just curious if there's a specific area where you notice it most,
02:45 whether it's a position group or a moment over the past couple of games.
02:49 >> I don't think it was a position group.
02:51 I think it's the team as a whole.
02:53 We've been playing tough.
02:55 We've made mistakes, no question about it.
02:58 We've been playing tough, and we give ourselves a chance.
03:00 We clean up the mistakes, we got a chance to be a decent team.
03:03 >> Tom, your team is still growing in terms of developing an identity, but
03:09 through the first four games, have you seen an identity emerge on offense or
03:13 defense where you're getting a sense of who the 2023 Buccaneers will be?
03:19 >> We're close, we're not there yet.
03:20 I figure one or two more games, hopefully.
03:23 With the bye week, once we get everybody back,
03:25 we have a chance to blend everybody in, we'll get a chance to see that.
03:29 >> They leaned heavy on the screens to Kamara, and
03:31 he's a guy that can be dangerous in the open field.
03:34 It seemed like your tackling was really sound.
03:36 I think he had 13 catches for 33 yards.
03:39 Nobody's ever had that many catches in that few yards.
03:42 How much did that help just keeping him under control in space?
03:46 >> I mean, it helped out a lot.
03:47 I mean, he's a dangerous back, and with Car being a little banged up, and
03:51 I figured he'd try to get the ball out a little quicker.
03:54 He caught a lot of balls, but the limit, the yak yards was important for us.
03:57 >> Tell me, your team has done a great job with the takeaways, and
04:02 it actually matches where you were at this time last year,
04:05 with 10 through the first four games.
04:06 What's the key to keeping this takeaway trend rolling for you guys?
04:10 >> Just being aware where the ball is, punching the ball out when we get a chance,
04:15 taking opportunities to get inceptions once he throws a bad pass, and
04:18 then Aaron passing us capital at the moment, and just securing the ball.
04:22 The guys have been real conscious of that this year,
04:24 and we're conscious of that every year.
04:26 It just flows a certain way at certain points in time, and
04:29 we just gotta keep it going.
