00:00 [inaudible]
00:20 All right guys, we've got a special guest and announcement for you guys today.
00:25 It's going to be a treat and I can't wait to bring he and his family in.
00:37 I think he's coming.
00:39 We got Coach Richt and his family coming in for a special announcement.
00:44 And he's going to come in and share with us.
00:47 Great event he's got going on.
00:48 All right.
00:50 Trying to take his notes.
00:51 How's everybody today?
00:53 Let's start with congratulations to you Coach on a great hard fought victory at Auburn.
00:59 I know how hard it is to go to Auburn and beat them guys.
01:02 And the other thing, I know you coached 101 now here.
01:08 86 and 15, that's my math, better than 85%.
01:12 Two national championships.
01:15 They're putting me in the Hall of Fame here in December.
01:17 But you're already in, they just haven't announced it yet.
01:21 But anyway, I just want to thank everybody for giving me just a minute.
01:25 Oh, and this young lady right here is my granddaughter, Jayden.
01:29 Jayden, step up just a little bit so they can at least see you one time.
01:33 You look to the right there.
01:35 So anyway, Jayden is up here with me because Jayden has Crohn's disease.
01:41 And I've got Parkinson's as we've established a while back.
01:47 So we want to find a cure for both Parkinson's and Crohn's.
01:52 And so that's why I'm here to announce the Chick-fil-A Dog Bowl 2023.
01:59 So what is that?
01:59 It's a VIP bowling tournament.
02:02 It's a fundraiser.
02:03 So each lane, Coach Smart is going to allow one of his players
02:08 be a celebrity bowler on each one of the 32 lanes.
02:12 And then it's kind of working like a golf tournament when you have a foursome
02:15 join a celebrity.
02:17 That's what we're going to do with the bowling alley.
02:20 So there'll be five bowlers on a lane.
02:21 32 lanes will be full.
02:24 And it's going to be October 18, the open date, right after the Wednesday
02:27 after Vanderbilt.
02:29 It'll be around 6:30 at Showtime Bowling Alley.
02:32 And it's a private event only for the players and the sponsors.
02:36 But on Dog Nation, we're going to stream the thing live
02:41 so the fan base could see it.
02:43 But I got to show you first what everybody's fighting for.
02:47 If you remember the water girl, this is Catherine, my wife.
02:55 Honey, you got it upside down.
02:56 There's upside down.
02:59 This thing says-- there's going to be five of these things
03:01 because there's five participants.
03:03 Dog Bowl 2022, to be the best, you got to beat the best.
03:06 So that's what everybody's going to be fighting for at the event that night.
03:10 Thank you, honey.
03:11 Do players get any of those?
03:12 Yeah, player gets one.
03:13 Back in my day--
03:14 If they win?
03:15 If they win, the team that wins, they get-- they're one of them.
03:18 The five teammates all get one of those belts,
03:21 including one of your players.
03:23 So back in my day, they'd have got thrown in NCAA jail.
03:27 [LAUGHTER]
03:29 Very true.
03:30 Believe me, they'd have a two-game suspension for being honest
03:34 and fessing up to it.
03:35 So anyway.
03:36 [LAUGHTER]
03:38 Very true.
03:39 If I had to go back and do that again, it'd be lie and deny.
03:42 I'd take it all back.
03:44 Prove it.
03:45 Prove it two years after your eligibility's up.
03:49 Anyway, sorry about that.
03:50 I didn't mean to do that.
03:51 So anyway, let's see.
03:54 Well, so far, we've already had over a half a million dollars
03:57 pledged to the event.
03:59 And so we're going to shoot for at least $750,000 total,
04:04 and maybe a million if it goes crazy.
04:06 But what I want to do is talk a little bit about the goal.
04:11 We're going to set the goal at $750,000.
04:13 So there's going to be a giving link.
04:14 OK?
04:15 And I'll give you that here in just a second.
04:17 But in real time, it'll show donations going in.
04:21 So I want the Bulldog Nation, hopefully,
04:23 to join in and help us get to $750,000 and maybe go to a million.
04:27 Who knows?
04:28 But the good news is this.
04:29 All donations are tax deductible.
04:31 They're all going to Georgia, the University of Georgia Isaacson Center
04:35 for Neurological Disease Research.
04:38 So the Johnny Isaacson chair that's been established at Georgia,
04:43 that's where the research is going to be done, right here on our campus.
04:47 So I think the Bulldog fans will be excited about that.
04:51 And Dr. Anu Kanthasamy-- if you say it with conviction, it's true.
04:59 He's been hired.
05:00 He's world-renowned in neurological research.
05:03 And so he's going to be the guy heading that thing up, him and his wife.
05:07 So anyway, the giving link, if you don't mind, everybody, just--
05:12 it's Ricked with an S, not apostrophe S, but ricksdogbowl.com.
05:20 So Ricks, all one word, Ricks, R-I-C-H-T-S, dogbowl.com.
05:26 And so that's a giving link that if anybody
05:29 makes a little story about this, you could maybe put it in your story
05:33 to get the fan base.
05:34 And then Coach Smart has been nice enough to shoot out some social media
05:39 posts.
05:40 I'll be shooting out some social media posts
05:43 to try to help generate interest in the giving.
05:46 But so everybody retweet or whatever re-X or I don't know what it's called.
05:52 Re-Instagram it or whatever you do.
05:55 Anyway--
05:55 We did a million, so we're going to get to a million, whatever it takes.
05:57 But Coach, thank you for the opportunity.
05:59 And God bless and good luck the rest of the way.
06:02 Thank you, guys.
06:02 Thank you, Mr. Captain.
06:03 [APPLAUSE]
