00:04 he is expected to join the discussions between South Korea and the Philippines

00:17 On the National Day and Armed Forces Day of South Korea,

00:26 South Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Lee Sang-hwa announced

00:30 that the second round of the maritime dialogue between the Philippines and South Korea will be held next week.

00:38 According to Ambassador Lee,

00:40 this center is expected to address issues related to the West Philippine Sea and the South China Sea.

00:47 We are expecting to cover a variety of issues

00:52 ranging from maritime ecosystem protection,

00:59 safety and security in the West Philippine Sea and South China Sea,

01:05 and the military-to-military and defense industry cooperation.

01:12 The maritime dialogue between South Korea and the Philippines

01:15 is being held amid the Philippines' commitment to destroy and extract corals from the Rosal Reef,

01:23 to bomb water cannons and to block the China Coast Guard's resupply vessels in the Philippines,

01:30 and to put the China Coast Guard's floating barriers in the Bayou de Macindoc.

01:35 These actions by China were also supported by the South Korean Embassy in the Philippines

01:41 because it opposed the UNCLOS and the 2016 Arbitral Award.

01:46 I felt strongly that we should add our voice to the growing concern about the situation.

01:56 So our embassy issued a statement.

01:59 South Korea, like the Philippines, is an ally of the United States.

02:03 It also has a strong military alliance with Japan.

02:07 During the meeting, South Korean Ambassador Lee,

02:11 Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro, and US Ambassador to the Philippines Mary Kay Carlson were also present.

02:17 AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo Browner was also present.

02:22 We are proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Republic of Korea

02:26 as we both continue to play a major role in the global effort for peace and development.

02:31 It was also mentioned that South Korea is interested in getting more Filipino caregivers.

02:38 According to Ambassador Lee, South Korea is already negotiating with the Department of Migrant Workers of the Philippines

02:45 for the possibility of forming a bilateral labor agreement.

02:50 Filipino caregivers have earned a high reputation, good reputation worldwide.

02:55 In our view, it will be a win-win partnership between our two countries.
