00:02 - Hello, I'm Frank Marcus.
00:05 I'm here at the LA Auto Show.
00:06 Right behind me is one of the more interesting
00:08 cars of the show.
00:09 It is the Bollinger.
00:11 They are electric class three trucks.
00:13 This is a very industrially designed truck, as you can see.
00:16 Everything was designed so that it could be made
00:18 by just cutting it and hitting it with a press brake.
00:21 And then to heighten the look of that,
00:23 most of the fasteners are rivets and so forth.
00:26 Very much kind of a Land Rover Defender vibe
00:29 going on with this thing.
00:31 Of course, one of the biggest party tricks of this vehicle
00:33 is this front tailgate.
00:36 With this tailgate down like this,
00:38 there's a pass-through that goes all the way to the back.
00:40 So this vehicle could be used to transport telephone poles.
00:43 As we move back and take a look on the interior,
00:46 there is a radio.
00:48 It is remotely located under there
00:50 and fully controlled by this little screen
00:52 and the volume and tuning knobs there.
00:55 As you can see over there, the gauges are very minimal.
00:57 You'll notice while we're in here also,
00:59 the center console is removable.
01:02 They index into pins in the floor.
01:04 One of the things you get with this also
01:05 is a 15 kilowatt inverter.
01:08 You can power a lot of power tools and so forth
01:11 off of the 120 kilowatt hour battery.
01:14 The 120 kilowatts is good for about 200 miles,
01:18 they expect, on the EPA cycle,
01:21 or about 10 hours of off-roading.
01:25 Speaking of off-roading,
01:26 this is very capable off-road, we are promised,
01:29 because it has portal axles.
01:31 So a portal axle is where the axle that drives the wheel
01:34 is offset from the center,
01:35 which gets all of the running gear up higher off the ground
01:38 and gives you a lot more ground clearance.
01:40 These wheels are designed by the people
01:42 who did the Hummer wheels.
01:43 Obviously, eight lug.
01:44 This is a heavy-duty truck.
01:46 It's a class three truck.
01:47 So that's over 10,000 pound gross vehicle weight rating.
01:50 Power-wise, it is four-wheel drive.
01:52 There are unique Bollinger specification
01:55 electric motors front and rear.
01:57 They're wound to their specifications
01:58 so that they can spin at a higher speed, 12,000 RPM.
02:01 Each motor, front and rear, is 307 horsepower
02:05 and 338 pound-feet of torque.
02:07 And they say they'll give a zero to 60 time
02:09 of four and a half seconds.
02:11 Bollinger is expecting to begin customer deliveries
02:13 in early 2021, and they have just announced
02:17 that the pricing will start at $125,000.
02:19 There you have it.
02:20 There's the deal on the Bollinger B2 electric pickup truck.
02:24 We just cannot wait to put it through its faces.
