00:00 (engine revving)
00:02 - On this episode of Roadkill,
00:04 we're bringing back the Monza.
00:06 - And we are going way beyond leaf blowers.
00:09 (engine revving)
00:12 (tires screeching)
00:16 (tires screeching)
00:19 (upbeat music)
00:23 (upbeat music)
00:26 (engine revving)
00:34 (upbeat music)
00:40 (upbeat music)
00:42 - Remember our Monza?
00:55 Way back in 2013, we bought this thing from a used car lot
00:58 and then we boosted it with five leaf blowers
01:01 in the back of it.
01:02 And we took it land speed racing
01:04 and went like 139 miles an hour.
01:05 And ever since then, this thing has been sitting
01:07 at Jeff Lutz's shop back there in Pennsylvania.
01:10 But finally, we have another idea.
01:12 And the way we're gonna do that
01:14 is with a trailer behind the Monza
01:16 with an engine mounted to it.
01:17 And the engine will be running,
01:19 spinning a centrifugal supercharger,
01:21 which will then feed into our old discharge pipe
01:23 from the leaf blowers
01:24 and send boost to the engine in the Monza.
01:27 So it will be a functional power producing boost caboose.
01:31 - Like most great things in life,
01:34 the boost caboose idea came about
01:36 after a session of tacos and beer between Freiburger and I.
01:40 And really I think the beer was the impetus
01:43 for this genius plan.
01:46 Behind these gates lies the land of abandoned engines
01:48 and parts and various projects from Roadkill
01:52 and other shows that our shop manager deems too valuable
01:55 to leave out here in the middle of everything else, so.
01:58 - The way back here is the big block Chevy
02:01 that we ran in the Bonneville Camaro when I blew it up.
02:04 But it already has a Vortex supercharger on it,
02:07 thereby making it the perfect motor to mount on our trailer.
02:10 But we're gonna have to take the engine apart
02:12 and figure out what went wrong and try and fix it.
02:14 This is like the Roadkill tomb of broken dreams.
02:18 All our leftover junk that doesn't work anymore.
02:21 So this is like a 491 cubic inch big block Chevy
02:25 that made, let's see, 791 horsepower on motor
02:30 and 1,105 at 10 pounds of boost.
02:35 I think our plan here is just to rip this thing apart
02:37 as it sits on the stand, mostly take the cylinder heads off
02:40 and find out what went wrong.
02:41 We'll probably see holes in pistons, stuff like that.
02:44 My hope is that we did not melt out any of the chamber
02:47 or gack anything like that.
02:48 I don't think parts fell out.
02:49 I think it's literally a melted hole in a piston.
02:52 (dramatic music)
02:54 - Oh, there's a hole.
03:00 - That's pretty gnarly down here.
03:01 - This is the thinnest part of the piston too right here,
03:04 so.
03:05 - Ah, yeah.
03:06 Last night didn't quite go as planned.
03:09 Started tearing the motor down.
03:10 I was actually gonna take the thing completely apart
03:12 because I was thinking all we need is one piston.
03:16 We're good.
03:17 But when I took out the damaged piston,
03:19 I found a few things that concerned me
03:20 and now I need to show them to Dave
03:22 because it's his motor and he needs to decide,
03:25 are we going to put this back together
03:27 with baling wire and duct tape
03:28 just because it needs to spin a blower and not move a car?
03:31 Or are we going to find a other motor?
03:34 - Good morning.
03:35 - Good morning.
03:36 I stopped last night because I pulled out
03:39 the number two piston, the one with the hole in it.
03:43 The rod's not entirely happy.
03:45 - Oh, really?
03:46 - You can see the heat generated from.
03:48 - You can actually see the pin is torched a little bit.
03:50 - Yeah.
03:51 You could probably dingle ball that.
03:53 - No, this is junk.
03:55 - Let's go find our motor.
03:56 - I know.
03:57 - We need a motor.
03:58 (upbeat music)
04:01 (upbeat music)
04:03 - That does not look good.
04:14 - Hole.
04:17 - Yeah.
04:18 - It's broken in half.
04:19 - It's not a four door.
04:20 It shouldn't be open back here.
04:22 - Why is this thing bent in half?
04:25 Well, that's a stupid question.
04:27 Oh man, look at that.
04:30 (groaning)
04:32 - Fenders have folded in.
04:36 We're about to pluck the only valuable part
04:38 off of the Buick, which is the 350 engine and transmission
04:41 that we bought for our Corvette chassis.
04:43 This car is so much worse than the last time I saw it.
04:46 And that's saying something.
04:47 - Poor car.
04:50 - It's not gonna come.
04:51 - Spent so much money and worked so hard.
05:00 Only for the car to do this during transport.
05:04 - I have no plan whatsoever.
05:05 We're just gonna hook stuff up and pull.
05:07 Okay.
05:10 Now it's gonna feel like driving a mini truck.
05:28 - The engine we pulled out of the Buick
05:30 is a 350 small block Chevy.
05:33 Different than that big block that was blown up.
05:35 But now we gotta build the Boost Caboose.
05:38 - This was the $400 model.
05:42 There was a $1,600 engine test stand
05:45 that we could have bought,
05:46 but I thought it was going on top of a trailer.
05:48 - We now discovered this is the trailer frame.
05:49 - This is the trailer now.
05:51 - Yeah, I was standing around going,
05:52 "Man, what are we gonna do?"
05:53 He drew up like this rad drawing of a trailer.
05:55 And all of a sudden I'm like,
05:56 "Why aren't we just putting wheels and tires on this?"
05:59 (upbeat music)
06:02 - What we have to do now is take the transmission off
06:20 because we're not gonna use it.
06:21 And then we even have motor mounts here.
06:24 We can start building our mounts for the trailer,
06:25 even though we still don't have a trailer axle,
06:28 which is a big problem.
06:30 - Today's going pretty good.
06:31 We have parts here.
06:33 There's sparks flying.
06:35 Things are being attached.
06:37 I'm betting by the end of the day,
06:39 you may actually hear a noise out of that engine.
06:43 Not so much this one.
06:44 In fact, we've actually not even started this one
06:46 and we haven't seen this car in about three years.
06:48 So hopefully it's still running.
06:50 - We got these headers a long time ago
06:53 when we were building the vet cart,
06:54 'cause we were gonna use these tractor pull type headers
06:57 that just point straight up in the air.
06:59 They've been sitting around,
07:00 just waiting for this opportunity.
07:04 This is a simple Vortec carbureted blow through
07:08 supercharger kit for a small block Chevy.
07:11 But I'm worried that the headers I just installed
07:12 aren't gonna fit with the blower.
07:14 Oh, I'm a complete chump.
07:16 The blower is gonna mount right here.
07:18 I have to flip the headers side to side
07:20 and even then they might not work.
07:22 Look how the air intake is right next to the header.
07:26 Not good.
07:27 We've got this thing giving the illusion of being done.
07:33 It's like got a lot of stuff going on,
07:34 but there's a whole lot of detail left to happen
07:37 and I'm really worried about it.
07:38 I'm gonna have to do radiator hoses.
07:40 We still have to mount the fuel cell.
07:41 We still have to put axles under it.
07:43 We need to make a hitch on the Monza.
07:45 And then there's gonna be a bunch of other stuff
07:48 that creeps up that we haven't thought of.
07:50 (dramatic music)
07:53 We're going to attempt to start the Boost Caboose
07:59 for the very first time.
08:01 It might.
08:02 Fires right up.
08:05 Wow.
08:05 We win.
08:17 I'm worried that with two axles,
08:19 it's actually not gonna have any tongue weight.
08:22 His argument for two axles is that it's more stable.
08:25 'Cause like if you put one axle on it,
08:27 you can grab the tongue and like turn the trailer.
08:30 And if you put two, you can't.
08:31 So therefore he's thinking it doesn't do this
08:33 on the highway as much.
08:35 But I think as small as the trailer is,
08:37 with as big as the tires are
08:38 and how far apart they'd have to be,
08:40 that we would end up with virtually no tongue weight.
08:43 So my vote is one.
08:45 I think we're going with one.
08:47 Mostly out of laziness.
08:50 We're behind schedule.
08:52 Here's a fun pointer.
08:54 The electric fuel pump on the Monza
08:55 is hooked up to the headlight switch.
08:57 And so when our video guys were shooting beauty shots
08:59 of the Monza earlier with the headlights on,
09:02 the fuel pump was running the whole time.
09:04 Little did anyone know, float was sunk in the carburetor.
09:07 Therefore, fuel was pouring down the carburetor
09:10 into the engine for about half an hour
09:13 while they were shooting video.
09:15 So now I'm gonna have to drain the oil,
09:16 see how much gas is in it,
09:17 then pull all the spark plugs out,
09:19 see if I need to spray any fuel out of the cylinders.
09:21 Hopefully it's all run past the rings by now.
09:23 Wow, look at all that.
09:26 Pure gas right at the end.
09:28 I fought all the spark plugs out of this thing.
09:30 Now I'm gonna turn it over by hand.
09:32 Watch all the gas that's gonna pour out of the cylinders.
09:35 There we go.
09:36 It's all pouring out of spark plug holes.
09:38 Save us a whole lot of trouble
09:41 if somebody would just throw a match right now.
09:43 - This is our new crossmember.
09:47 For our axle studs.
09:52 Those are gonna bolt on right there.
09:54 That's gonna shove up in the chassis
09:56 and get welded to the chassis.
09:59 It'll be amazing.
10:15 - That's exactly how it sounded
10:17 when I broke the record in Ohio.
10:19 Okay.
10:24 Ready?
10:29 - Let her down.
10:30 - There we go.
10:33 - Let's check the ride.
10:34 - Oh, this thing's good.
10:37 Look at all that tongue weight.
10:40 And that's when we found out
10:41 that it is kind of a pain in the neck
10:43 to put a trailer hitch on a Monza.
10:45 - There we go.
10:50 Boom.
10:53 - Okay.
10:53 Now we have to roll over to the drill press,
10:55 use those holes as a guide,
10:57 drill through this and get out of here.
11:00 - We didn't build that part though.
11:01 - I know, so it's okay.
11:02 - Ready?
11:05 - Yeah.
11:12 - Reaver!
11:13 - What you have witnessed is the escalation
11:21 from leaf blowers, look at that beauty right there,
11:25 all the way to the boost caboose.
11:27 The only thing that's really lacking here
11:29 is the actual boost part of the program.
11:31 We need to put the blower belt on
11:32 and run a hose from here up to the engine
11:35 and then figure out how to tune the thing or not
11:38 and go for a drive with this thing
11:40 screaming at like 5,000 RPM,
11:42 making like seven pounds of boost into that engine
11:45 and maybe even making more power as a result.
11:49 Meanwhile, packing it in for the night.
11:51 They're doing construction on our shop
11:58 and we got thrown out,
11:59 so we were here till like, what,
12:01 one in the morning last night?
12:02 That's when I got home.
12:03 Finally got the last few details done on this thing.
12:06 We're gonna hook it up
12:07 and show you some of the craziness that happened.
12:10 So check this out.
12:13 Finnegan named this last night, which was genius.
12:15 The snuffleupagus.
12:16 - Mr. Snuffleupagus.
12:17 - So this is our boost tube
12:19 that goes from our supercharger
12:22 all the way through the car.
12:23 You can see here where we used to have
12:25 our leaf blowers going on.
12:26 There's a hole in our firewall,
12:28 it just goes right up.
12:29 This is the same arrangement that we had
12:30 with our leaf blowers,
12:32 where this is the blow off valve, basically.
12:34 So the supercharger can be running,
12:35 boosting the engine,
12:37 and all the air will be blowing in here.
12:38 Then when you need boost, bam!
12:41 - I thought about this.
12:42 This is the genius of this plan is--
12:43 - There's genius?
12:44 - If you have an oddball engine
12:46 that you cannot afford to have
12:47 a custom supercharger kit for,
12:50 but you have the skills to build yourself a trailer,
12:52 you can buy a supercharger kit for a small block Chevy.
12:55 - Right.
12:55 - It makes sense.
12:56 - It's the whole point.
12:57 - Makes sense.
12:58 - Any vehicle you have with a tow hitch now has boost.
13:02 You gotta see the fuel system.
13:03 It's so bad.
13:04 This is among our worst work ever.
13:06 Okay.
13:08 So you're never supposed to mount
13:09 an electric fuel pump up here.
13:11 They don't like to pull gas.
13:13 They like to push it.
13:14 So you're supposed to put them back near the tank,
13:15 and you're supposed to make sure
13:17 that they are fed with gasoline.
13:19 Well, we found out that the Monza
13:21 has an electric fuel pump in the tank
13:23 that's feeding about six and a half PSI.
13:25 So it is feeding this fuel pump,
13:27 which will give us more pressure,
13:29 into this regulator,
13:31 and it's gonna be boost referenced,
13:32 although that's the last thing we need to hook up.
13:34 Because the carburetor vent is having boost fed to it,
13:39 you have to compensate your fuel pressure for that.
13:41 'Cause if you have seven PSI of fuel pressure
13:43 going in the bowl,
13:44 and seven PSI of air going in the vent,
13:47 that means zero fuel pressure, zero fuel flow.
13:50 - It's quite a roadblock.
13:51 - Yeah.
13:52 So the boost reference makes the regulator
13:54 increase fuel pressure in direct proportion to boost.
13:57 - That's all science.
13:58 My favorite part of this whole thing is the return line.
14:02 We're going full back to the future here.
14:04 - Yep.
14:04 - David made an awesome part
14:06 that routes it through the vent,
14:08 and then uses race proven and completely legal
14:11 aluminum tubing all the way over the roof,
14:15 back in to the stock filler neck.
14:18 - That's where the gas goes, right?
14:21 - Well, we didn't have a gas cap anyway,
14:22 so you might as well have put it there.
14:24 This really looks like pieces of the DeLorean right there.
14:28 - Finally, we got to the point
14:29 where we can go test our theory.
14:30 We're going to hit the road, go up to the desert,
14:32 and feed this thing some boost.
14:34 (engine revving)
14:41 - Feels like it drives the same.
14:56 - It's like the trailer's not even there.
14:59 This thing is a towing machine.
15:01 (upbeat music)
15:04 (engine revving)
15:26 (upbeat music)
15:29 - Watch this.
15:32 Put your face near it.
15:38 Ready?
15:41 - Yeah.
15:41 (laughing)
15:44 (horn honking)
15:55 (laughing)
15:57 - Ready?
16:14 We're in the middle of nowhere,
16:17 like around Mojave, Tehachapi,
16:20 someplace middle of the desert, California.
16:22 And we came out here so that we could do our boost runs
16:25 with the Boost Caboose.
16:27 What we have to do is a little bit of maintenance
16:29 and work here, and then we're going to fire up
16:31 the Boost Caboose, plumb the boost to the Monza,
16:35 and we're going to have to figure out
16:36 if the thing runs or not.
16:37 - Now, remarkably, the last three years
16:39 have been pretty kind to this car.
16:40 It seems to run better than when we had it.
16:43 And maybe that's because it sat at a race car shop
16:45 for three years without us working on it.
16:48 - My biggest thing is that we don't have any kind
16:51 of a bypass valve on it other than the handheld one.
16:54 So it's going to be funny to try and figure out
16:56 how to return to idle.
16:58 But what's going to be great about it is that,
17:02 you know how everybody always wants that dream
17:04 of the Mad Max supercharger,
17:06 where you can flip a switch and turn it on and off?
17:08 That's basically what this is.
17:10 'Cause we're going to have boost going in the carb,
17:12 venting out of the valve on the dash,
17:14 and when we want boost, just...
17:16 You're going to make a spacer out of the gaff tape,
17:19 just tape it up until it grows a quarter inch in size.
17:21 Our problem right now is we've got this massive kink
17:27 in the hose.
17:28 So we're trying to figure out how to work that out.
17:31 So we're going to try and feed it more into the car.
17:35 Okay.
17:35 Feeding.
17:37 - That's better.
17:48 - Okay.
17:49 (fuel pump hissing)
17:51 Boost sealing the roadkill way.
17:54 It's completely wrong.
17:56 Actually, this tube is shoved far enough into here
17:58 that it's sort of sealing.
18:00 What we're doing now is a boost reference to our regulator
18:04 from the carburetor hat.
18:05 And I bought all the hardware to do it,
18:07 minus the actual hose, but this hose is giant.
18:11 What about every scrap of fuel line
18:13 from all five leaf blowers?
18:15 There's probably five sections of line this long
18:18 we can scrap together.
18:20 Look at that.
18:22 - Oh, we could probably do this.
18:23 - So we get enough of these together, we're dialed.
18:25 - We need one to two more.
18:28 Try and see if there's anything we can use like this
18:33 as a connector.
18:35 - You could rip the nipples out of the carburetors
18:37 right there.
18:38 - Look at that.
18:42 - Connectors.
18:42 - Wow.
18:44 You're a genius.
18:46 There's a bolt that we don't want to back out
18:48 and rub our supercharger tensioner, belt tensioner.
18:53 So I'm going to tape it just so it doesn't back out.
18:56 The boost caboose is ready to make heat.
18:58 Oh yeah.
19:06 - Right there?
19:07 - Yeah, rub it up.
19:08 Oh yeah.
19:14 Oh yeah.
19:16 (engine revving)
19:19 - It works.
19:24 - What's melting?
19:25 The air filter?
19:26 - Things that are touching other things.
19:29 - Well, these headers have never run before
19:31 and they got paint on them.
19:33 Everything is completely buttoned up.
19:34 I think our process here is going to be
19:36 fire up the Monza first,
19:38 chalk it so it doesn't roll away,
19:39 fire this thing up, set the RPM.
19:41 At that point it will be making boost.
19:43 And I want to go look at our boost reference fuel system
19:46 and make sure that the fuel pressure is coming up
19:48 in proportion to boost before we go out there
19:50 and drive the thing around.
19:52 Because if it's not,
19:53 the engine will go lean and probably explode.
19:55 (engine revving)
19:58 Okay, it's overheating.
20:16 The blower belt is shredding.
20:19 - That's what was hitting me?
20:22 - Yes.
20:24 And I reached in to try and cut the zip tie
20:27 and it just scalded me.
20:28 The hose is burning on the header.
20:32 This is well thought out.
20:35 - So we're probably only going to get one shot at this.
20:40 - Yeah.
20:40 - Why is the belt shredding?
20:42 - And the belt is shredding itself.
20:45 - It's not on the, it's not even aligned.
20:47 - It took the inner guide off of the,
20:51 what do you call it?
20:52 Completely.
20:53 See that?
20:54 - Why?
20:55 - Remember that bolt that I taped up
20:57 so that it wouldn't back out and gack the tensioner?
21:00 Yeah, you saw this coming.
21:02 - So pretty much this only works
21:03 when you're moving, I think.
21:05 - If then.
21:06 Yeah, not enough airflow to cool it off.
21:10 First run, not good because it wasn't a run at all.
21:12 The engine completely failed before we even got that far.
21:15 This tensioner is supposed to have one of these
21:17 on both sides.
21:19 The bolt shredded it off and that's what guides the belt.
21:22 So we're going to have problems
21:23 with the belt falling off the whole time now.
21:25 - Oh, we really want to make a run here.
21:27 And this is more of a bandaid, but we just did.
21:29 We just took the bolt out that was falling out,
21:32 put the belt back on, even though it's shredded
21:34 and we'll give it another run.
21:37 I don't know what's going to happen though.
21:38 - We can't ruin this belt more.
21:40 (engine revving)
21:43 - Okay, take two.
21:46 - It's loud.
21:47 (engine revving)
21:51 - I'm alive!
22:03 - I'm still alive.
22:05 (rock music)
22:07 (engine revving)
22:10 - Ready?
22:17 - Yeah.
22:18 - Go, hit it!
22:19 - Yeah!
22:20 - That works.
22:21 - Yeah!
22:22 (engine revving)
22:25 - All it out!
22:26 (laughing)
22:29 (rock music)
22:31 (engine revving)
22:34 - Second gear!
22:42 - Power!
22:43 (laughing)
22:45 - The boost caboose shut off.
22:55 We out of gas already?
22:56 No?
23:01 - It just died.
23:02 - Let me shut the fuel pump off here.
23:04 Dude, it totally works though.
23:06 - It totally works.
23:07 - Oh my God, the moment you slam the ball valve shut.
23:10 - It takes off.
23:11 - It goes faster.
23:12 - I know, and we don't even know what the tune up is.
23:14 It's probably a disaster.
23:15 Our belt is still on.
23:18 The heat from the fan is not that big.
23:22 Did the wire fall off?
23:26 - The tune is up there.
23:27 - It's so loud in there.
23:29 - Earmuffs would be awesome.
23:30 - I need earmuffs.
23:31 It is so loud.
23:33 The air coming out of the valve just shrieks.
23:36 (laughing)
23:38 Woo!
23:40 I think a lot of boost is leaking
23:43 'cause it should give us more power than it seems to be.
23:47 - Well, it's probably helping our cause.
23:48 - 'Course, if you think about it,
23:50 I had that thing at 3,500 RPM.
23:52 - Yeah, and it's gotta go through all of this.
23:54 - Right, it's gotta go through all of that.
23:56 It might be a couple pounds of boost.
23:58 - Yeah.
23:59 - So you're saying go for five grand?
24:01 - Yeah.
24:01 (laughing)
24:02 That is what I was saying.
24:03 - Let's go again then.
24:04 - Okay.
24:05 We haven't developed our race routine yet.
24:09 Is it fuel pump, fire, Monza, fire, trailer?
24:12 - Yeah, so you're not deadheading that into this.
24:15 I'm so happy this is working.
24:17 - I know, me too.
24:18 - 'Cause there's no bigger kick in the nuts
24:20 than doing a lot of work like that
24:22 for something like this that seemingly makes no sense
24:24 and then having it not work at all.
24:26 - It's not dumb if it works.
24:27 - That's right.
24:28 - That's what I've heard.
24:29 - And it works.
24:30 How come it'll only fire and not run?
24:35 - No gas in the carb.
24:39 - Okay, so let's review.
24:40 We pulled up and the thing died.
24:43 - What?
24:48 Well, obviously we have air.
24:49 - We have spark.
24:52 - We have fuel.
24:53 - I don't get it.
24:56 I mean, the distributor's still in the right place.
24:58 - I'm still not completely convinced
25:01 it hasn't skipped a tooth on the timing chain.
25:03 - Yeah, that ain't right.
25:11 - What if it skipped a timing chain?
25:13 It's not electrical.
25:20 Okay, what happened here?
25:24 - That's unreal, we just stopped.
25:25 We just parked.
25:26 - I know, but remember it died.
25:29 And I think I called it 10, 15 minutes ago.
25:33 - That's unreal.
25:34 - It jumped a tooth on the timing chain.
25:36 What that means is that the camshaft
25:38 and the crankshaft are out of sync now.
25:40 But the other thing that it does
25:41 is it changes the position of the distributor
25:45 in relationship to where the pistons are and everything.
25:47 So what I just did is advanced the thing
25:50 and it fired right up and ran.
25:51 So probably what that means is that it slipped one tooth
25:54 off of the timing chain on this engine.
25:57 But it'll run well enough to spin a supercharger
25:59 to give us boost to do our test.
26:01 So what's gonna happen is we figure we need
26:02 to test our theory here with actual performance.
26:05 So we're gonna run it naturally aspirated
26:08 between a couple phone poles and just time it with a phone
26:10 and then hook it up with 5,000 RPM
26:13 worth of boost from the caboose and try it again.
26:16 So we'll roll 20 miles an hour
26:17 to eliminate traction as a variable,
26:19 wide open to the third pole,
26:21 and I'll just be spotting it and timing it
26:24 and see if it's gonna spin.
26:25 - Okay.
26:26 - You have your zip ties?
26:27 - Yeah.
26:28 - Okay.
26:28 (engine revving)
26:29 Let's go make history.
26:31 (engine revving)
26:34 Okay, third pole.
26:40 We're at 25 miles an hour.
26:43 - Go.
26:47 (engine revving)
26:49 - That's better.
26:50 (engine revving)
26:53 Well, strangely enough, if you cork this thing up
27:01 and make it breathe through a long hose,
27:03 that fixes the tune for it naturally aspirated
27:05 and it runs great.
27:06 So that was a 10.1 seconds, I think, for four poles.
27:10 - Yep.
27:11 - All right.
27:12 - 10.1.
27:13 That was your number.
27:14 - Not bad.
27:14 - Now we're ready for our B test with boost.
27:17 Earlier we had the boost caboose running at 3,500 RPM.
27:21 This time we're going all out, 5,000 RPM.
27:25 (engine revving)
27:28 - Oh, here we go.
27:41 (cheering)
27:45 (engine revving)
27:48 - Yeah!
28:09 860!
28:10 860 in the corner, dude.
28:15 860 in the four pole.
28:17 We did it!
28:18 That thing, you would not believe it.
28:22 When you pull the valve on it, the thing just scoots.
28:25 It was bank shifting and it was coming up so high.
28:28 - It's all about 5,000 RPM.
28:30 Dude, it works.
28:31 - Yep.
28:32 - We picked, okay, so four poles, not that far apart.
28:34 These are four light poles.
28:36 - It's not a quarter mile.
28:37 - No, and we picked up over a second.
28:40 - Yeah.
28:41 - 10, 10 to 860.
28:42 - 1.3 seconds.
28:43 - Dude.
28:44 - No, five.
28:46 Second and a half, 10, 10 to 860.
28:48 - 10, 10.
28:48 - Second and a half, dude.
28:49 - 860.
28:51 Oh, right, 10, 10.
28:52 - Yeah.
28:53 Wow.
28:54 Dude, it was a rocket when that thing worked.
28:56 - When I hit the handle, we were both like, whoa!
28:59 - This was awesome.
29:00 - That was great.
29:01 I wish we knew how much boost it was.
29:03 I wish we knew the air fuel mixture,
29:04 but it doesn't matter because we proved our point.
29:06 That garbage works.
29:07 - I don't even, yeah.
29:08 Not a waste of our time and resources.
29:10 Not at all.
29:11 - No.
29:12 Let's go.
29:13 - All right.
29:14 (panting)
29:16 - First round's on me.
29:17 This was rad.
29:18 - Massive burnout out of here.
29:21 So there you go.
29:22 The Monza is back with more ridiculous levels
29:26 of boost than ever.
29:28 And you might be asking yourself,
29:30 why would we go to all this trouble?
29:32 It's because the Boost Caboose
29:34 is a universal implement of boost
29:36 for any car with a trailer hitch.
29:38 Hook it up, feed the snuffleupagus over to your engine,
29:41 modify the fuel system a little bit,
29:43 and all of a sudden you've got power.
29:46 You also might be asking yourself,
29:48 why wouldn't we just take that small block Chevy
29:50 supercharger and install it on the small block Chevy
29:53 in the Monza?
29:55 Well, that would just be inconvenient.
29:56 I mean, the power steering pump's in the way.
29:58 But most of all, that just wouldn't be Roadkill.
