00:15 Good morning Sir Audrey and Madam Gayan of Rice and Shine Philippines and to all of our viewers. Good morning to all of us.
00:28 Sir and Vice, how is your town of Calayan? This morning, did you experience any aftershocks?
00:38 There were no aftershocks. Yesterday, there was a strong wind. Yesterday, there was a storm. Although it was not strong and it was a strong wind.
00:58 Now, there is no more storm. There are only a few storms. We are okay here, Sir Audrey and Madam Gayan.
01:10 It is normal for us to have this kind of calamities. We are able to survive.
01:20 Mayor, we are showing on television the picture of a young boy who fell and got injured.
01:29 He had a head injury. Is this confirmed by the DALSA Limdol?
01:38 The doctor told me that he fell because of the wind and he was in the process of falling.
01:58 The wound was small and he was able to recover. For me, it's all about the consequence of the earthquake.
02:14 Every time there is an earthquake, the primary concern is the infrastructure. Has the LGU inspected the infrastructure and the residents' homes?
02:32 The LDRMO and the captains have been informed. There were no significant damage.
02:45 The school buildings that were damaged last month are getting worse. Even before yesterday's earthquake, the children were not allowed to enter.
03:01 The 17 to 18 classrooms were condemned. Our municipal building, which is also a bit old, has a lot of cracks.
03:16 That's our choice because we don't have other things to use. We are going to enter the municipal building.
03:29 Mayor, I just want to ask, where did the earthquake happen and what was your experience?
03:37 It happened in my parents' house. We call it a family house because it's near our house.
03:48 It was strong. It just jolted. There was no warning. It was just 3 to 4 seconds. I ran and I was scared because I was standing on a wall.
04:03 It wasn't high but our house was old. I might fall and I ran outside.
04:14 But let's compare it again. The last month was long. This was just 3 to 4 seconds. This is weaker.
04:29 Mayor Leopold, good morning. This is Dianne Quirer. Mayor, do you have an assessment on how big the earthquake was in your area because of the earthquake?
04:43 Actually, ma'am, the damage is aggravated. It was 100 million. If the school buildings are not repaired, it's a replacement.
05:02 The classrooms here are 1.6 to 1.7 million. And our municipal building, we will replace it. We bought a lot where we will build a new LGU building.
05:21 But we still lack the track. Maybe we will start next year.
05:31 Mayor, did you resume the school entrances and government offices?
05:38 The school, ma'am, there are no entrances yet because I think the school is still at signal number one. Although this afternoon, the earthquake will be replaced by the park.
05:54 Government work, we will resume because the wind is not strong. It's just a storm. We will do a lot in the municipality.
06:07 All government agencies are now included in the area, including the national agencies.
06:15 Okay. Lastly, Mayor Leopold, what are your reminders and messages to your constituents in your area sir?
06:23 If there is a panic and a storm is coming, stay away from the areas that can be affected. If there is a situation like that, whatever the consequences, call the local government immediately.
06:45 Let's be careful. Don't panic.
06:49 Okay. I understand Vice Mayor Vice is also with you. Maybe you have a message to your constituents.
06:57 Vice Mayor is here, ma'am. Let's give him a message.
07:03 Vice Mayor Escalante, go ahead.
07:05 Good morning, ma'am.
07:09 Vice Mayor, we know that your area is affected. There was a storm and you were also affected by the earthquake. What is your message to your constituents in Calayan, Cagayan, Vice?
07:23 I want my constituents to be careful. We have been affected by the storm and the earthquake for almost a year. I want them to be careful.
07:42 Alright. Well, on that note, thank you very much for your time. This is Rise and Shine Philippines, Mayor Joseph Leopis and Vice Mayor Edmundo Escalante of Calayan, Cagayan. Thank you.
