01:01 While the color of the minerals depends on the chemical element it contains.

01:05 The presence and the amount of certain elemental impurities

01:14 The stones that are colored are Rainbow River,

01:16 semi-precious stones, or stones that can be used to make ornaments.

01:20 But they are not as important as quartz, jade, and onyx.

01:25 Those stones probably come from mineral rich outcrops

01:27 of landforms like mountains that are found near the vicinity of the river.

01:32 They say that because the town of Sibalom is rich in manganese,

01:36 that's why the stones are colored.

01:38 But because Sibalom Natural Park is a protected area,

01:41 the extraction of stones from the river is now prohibited.

01:43 The stones that are colored in the downstream can be extracted,

01:48 but if it's not processed, it can't be exported to the town.
