Transcript
00:00 Hello, my name is George Psarius, I own the George's Ristorante Italiano in Fair Headingley.
00:08 I'm very chuffed because I got my belt upgraded from white to red.
00:15 Why did I join it, the karate club?
00:18 Because my grandchildren used to go there, I used to take them there, and I said, "Why
00:21 don't I join it as well?
00:23 It's good for exercise and also to defend yourself."
00:26 It doesn't matter how old you are, you can join a gym or karate club or whatever, because
00:32 exercise is good for you.
00:34 I don't want to tell you my age, but I am 75 and I feel fit.
00:40 I'm glad that they thought that I deserved a red belt.
00:44 I am the oldest member of the club and the instructor is the second oldest.
00:50 The karate club I go to is called Aegis.
00:53 It's a very nice club, good instructors, thorough instructors, and I'm very pleased with my
00:58 progress there.
00:59 How often do you go?
01:01 I go there twice a week.
01:04 I try to go there at least twice a week.
01:08 You feel good after that because you know you've done your exercise and of course you
01:13 feel a bit safer because you know a few movements, if anybody attacks you.
01:17 The whole thing is to protect yourself, not to be someone that is going to attack people
01:24 or anything like that.
01:25 When you were younger, were you interested in martial arts then?
01:29 Did you ever watch anybody on telly or things like that?
01:32 Yes, when I was younger I used to watch Bruce Lee, but when I went to Bradford University
01:37 for my first degree, I actually took it up, but regrettably I left it after four weeks
01:42 and I regret that.
01:43 I wish I continued.
