Heavy rainfall to flood parts of the south east on Thursday
Transcript
00:00 Temperatures here only 17, 18, 19 degrees Celsius and notched down what we've seen
00:04 even so
00:04 much higher than the rest of the country 12 or 13 degrees Celsius.
00:08 Now two things happen through Thursday evening. First of all this band
00:12 of rain, it's very narrow, will bring some strong winds as it pushes down towards the
00:16 northwest of England. At the same time
00:18 cloud and rain approaches the southwest. Now there's a rain warning anywhere from
00:23 Wales, the Midlands, Suffolk, Essex,
00:25 central southern England as well as the West Country from 9pm
00:28 on Thursday evening right the way through Friday. The rain will be heavy,
00:32 problems on the roads as well with some really intense bursts,
00:35 poor visibility with lots of surface water and that rain pushes up towards the
00:39 northeast
00:40 of England through the latter part of the night. At the same time this band of rain
00:44 will lose a lot of its intensity.
00:46 It is going to be a windy spell of weather for Scotland but this rain will sink down
00:49 towards the central belt and then fade away.
00:51 The rain in the south will remain heavy at times and the risk of some
00:55 thunderstorms towards the far south, the air remains warm here
00:58 a little sunshine coming through during the morning though before this rain
01:02 pushes down
01:03 towards the far southeast. Brighter skies elsewhere but a blustery breeze and look
01:07 at the winds relentless across the north and northwest
01:10 of Scotland and temperatures here fitting cold 10-11 degrees Celsius still
01:14 warm in the south
01:15 that all changes through the weekend with a ridge of high pressure, some showers in
01:19 the mix through the weekend but also some sunshine but temperatures a lot lower
01:22 across the board. I'll see you later.
01:23 Thank you.
