00:07 Good evening, Kapuso!
00:09 I'm your brother Kim, who will give you a trivia behind the trending news.
00:13 Every bare month, this is the food that our Filipinos are craving.
00:17 Bibingka!
00:18 In Cebu, there's a vlogger who can't wait for Christmas,
00:21 so he tried to cook a huge bibingka.
00:25 Will he succeed?
00:27 [music]
00:31 74 days before Christmas,
00:33 but here in the town of San Fernando, Cebu,
00:35 Christmas is just around the corner.
00:37 In this huge stainless steel pot,
00:40 he tried to cook the biggest bibingka in the world.
00:44 In cooking this huge bibingka,
00:46 the vlogger, Jim, aka Beatmaster, used hundreds of ingredients.
00:50 "500 grams of rice, 12 bags of rice, 4 bags of sugar,
00:54 1 kilo of yeast, and other ingredients."
00:56 But will Jim succeed in cooking this huge bibingka?
01:00 "Kuya Kim, bibingka is another original Filipino recipe."
01:05 "Kuya Kim, what now?"
01:07 Bibingka's cooking and eating is now tied to the culture and tradition of our Filipinos.
01:11 But according to the culinary heritage advocate, Chef Chris,
01:14 there's no direct evidence of the origin of this dish.
01:17 "We don't have a direct document stating that the bibingka is from us."
01:22 "But we have people like us who cook bibingka."
01:26 "And we can see that in other countries, there are also people like us."
01:29 Because of the similarity of the sound of the name,
01:31 many people think that the Filipino bibingka is similar to the bibingka that we see in Goa, India.
01:36 There are also other people who believe that bibingka has an influence on us, the Chinese.
01:40 Bibingka is a ham, or in Hokkien word, "bi",
01:42 which means "cooked grain" or "butil".
01:45 But for sure, this is one of the ingredients that will complete our Christmas.
01:48 The manner of cooking is also simple.
01:50 You just need a vessel, and on top of that, a metal sheet with a lid.
01:54 We created a portable oven on the side of the church for us, the people who eat.
02:00 It's perfect for a cold morning.
02:02 Meanwhile, after two days, Jim and Vaxin Bingka
02:06 started cooking their huge bibingka.
02:09 The vessel is not appropriate for bibingka.
02:12 The manner of cooking is also wrong.
02:14 Top down, it should be hot.
02:16 When Jim clarified, they didn't intend to waste food.
02:19 In fact, they were planning to share it with their neighbors,
02:22 even though they succeeded.
02:24 But this bibingka was served by hundreds of people.
02:27 How come it's almost one kilometer long?
02:29 On October 9, 2007,
02:36 in the town of Tingras, Ilocos Norte,
02:38 the cassava bibingka was cooked that is one kilometer long.
02:41 The famous bibingka that was tried to break the Guinness World Record
02:45 was made from almost 1,000 kilos of cassava
02:48 and was served by almost 1,000 residents.
02:51 Meanwhile, for more trivia behind the viral news,
02:55 tweet or comment #KuyaKim, what's next?
02:58 Always remember, what's important is known.
03:01 I'm Kuya Kim and I salute you 24/7.
03:04 Dear Kapuso, what's important is known.
