00:09 Yellowstone will be ending with season 5, following series star Kevin Costner's exit

00:16 However, it was recently reported that Costner begged to return to the show.

00:20 According to Puck News, after Costner quit, his reps reached out to the network and Yellowstone

00:24 creator Taylor Sheridan to find out if there was any way he could return.

00:28 The outlet reported that Costner's reps were basically begging for the actor to be

00:32 allowed to be allowed to come back to Yellowstone.

00:34 Puck says that Costner's reps indicated the actor had changed his mind about leaving

00:38 and wanted to return for the rest of season 5, and possibly even a sixth season.

00:43 However, once Sheridan got on the phone with Costner to discuss terms, things soured.

00:47 Among Costner's requests were more money, a shorter filming schedule, and the right

00:51 to review, approve, and slash or veto each script.

00:54 Sheridan was said to not be open to these demands, so the potential deal fell through.

00:58 TV Line previously reported that it has reached out to Costner's reps for comment, but has

01:03 not received a response at the time of this writing.

01:06 Over the summer, Sheridan opened up about the recent controversies surrounding the show

01:10 and even revealed that Costner has had some problems as for back as season 2.

01:14 In an extensive interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sheridan offered his candid perspective

01:18 on the show and its inevitable end.

01:20 During the conversation, an anonymous claim came up, in which a source had claimed that

01:24 Costner was unhappy with the direction of his character, John Dutton, and that Sheridan's

01:29 reply was encouraging him to stick to acting.

01:31 "I never had that conversation with Kevin," Sheridan told THR.

01:34 "There was a time in season 2 when he was very upset and said the character wasn't

01:38 going in the direction he wanted.

01:40 I said, 'Kevin, you do remember that I told you this is essentially the Godfather on the

01:44 largest ranch in Montana.

01:45 Are you that surprised that the Godfather is killing people?'

01:48 What he's clung to is Dutton's commitments to his family and way of life.

01:52 Dutton's big failing is not evolving with the times, not finding different revenue streams

01:56 for the ranch.

01:57 Kevin felt season 2 was deviating from that, and I don't know that he was wrong," Sheridan

02:02 "In season 3, we steered back into it, and I recall him winning a Golden Globe last year

02:06 for his performance, so I think it's working."

02:09 Yellowstone will be back to conclude its fifth and final season, though no premiere date

02:14 The second half of Yellowstone's fifth season was supposed to premiere on the 2023 movie

02:19 However, because of the WGA strike, which is now over, and the ongoing Saeed Aftari

02:25 strike, production can't go on.

02:27 Plus, this drama between Kevin Costner and the show has seemingly made things even more

02:32 Outside of Yellowstone, though, Kevin Costner is working on his movie's Horizon, which

02:35 are both scheduled to drop on the 2024 movie schedule along with his music.

02:44 with the show seems rocky, it's clear that he is finding success through other projects.
