00:04 In the hearing on October 16,
00:07 the Constitutional Court decided to reject the request of the Indonesian Solidarity Party
00:11 which proposed a change of age limit of the Minimum Cha Press-Cawapres to 35 years.
00:17 At the hearing, LBH-PSI Director Francine Widjojo said she was disappointed with the decision of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
00:25 According to her, PSI will fight for a revision of the Constitutional Court's Minimum Cha Press-Cawapres age limit through the Parliament.
00:33 Because of that, PSI hopes to be able to get a seat in the 2024 Constitutional Court.
00:39 Psychologically, the age category is 35 to 40 years old, but the same age.
00:48 So, we actually see this as discrimination of age groups.
00:52 But unfortunately, we cannot give more details, but it's okay.
00:56 We can fight in a different way.
00:58 Including, PSI will enter the Parliament.
01:02 In the opinion of the Parliament,
01:05 it was said that people who have passed the age limit
01:11 can have a seat in the Constitutional Court because they are considered to be a major.
01:17 They have been elected by the people, so it will be easier for them to get a seat.
01:22 So, we will be a fighting position for Indonesian youth.
01:29 PSI proposed a revision of Article 169 of the Law No. 7 of 2017 on the Minimum Age Cha Press-Cawapres.
01:39 However, the ruling led by the Chairperson of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Anwar Usman, decided to reject the request of all applicants.
01:45 It was noted from nine judges involved in the decision, two of them had different opinions.
01:51 From Jakarta, Rina Anggraini, Aloisius Lewokeda, Kantor Berita Antara, reported.
