00:00 We have to remember that the entity responsible for all of this suffering is Hamas.
00:05 Hamas is a terrorist organisation which has perpetrated a horrific act of terror
00:10 which has caused the death of over a thousand people.
00:13 Israel does have every right to defend itself and its people
00:17 to ensure that nothing like this ever happens again.
00:19 I think that's what the Israeli people would expect from their government,
00:21 is that if something like this happened here,
00:22 it's what people would expect from this government,
00:24 to make sure that they take the proportionate and necessary steps to keep everybody safe.
00:29 Now, I've raised with the Israeli Prime Minister
00:31 the need to minimise the impact on civilians best we can.
00:35 I've raised the humanitarian situation.
00:36 We will continue to do that with other allies around the region as well.
00:41 But again, Israel has given people advance notice of what's happening,
00:45 given them the opportunity to leave.
00:47 And it's Hamas who is now telling people to stay behind.
00:51 It's Hamas that is embedding itself inside civilian populations.
00:55 And that is just an example of the barbarity with which they operate.
01:01 They are not doing the right thing by the Palestinian people by those actions
01:04 and they should be held accountable for that.
