00:00 Hello and welcome back to edinburghnews.com. I'm Neil Johnston, a reporter at the Edinburgh
00:05 Evening News and these are some of the top stories you can find on our website today.
00:10 According to a recent Time Out magazine survey, Leith has been ranked one of the coolest neighbourhoods
00:15 to live in in the world. Leith came in at number 16, making it the second most exciting
00:21 neighbourhood in the UK, behind Liverpool's Baltic Triangle. The survey ranked Glasgow's
00:27 West End 20th on the list and London's Kings Cross came in 24th. In their review, they
00:34 wrote Leith is undoubtedly more polished than it used to be, but the sense of pride and
00:39 community fostered by long-time locals and creatives keeps its unique spirit ticking
00:44 on. A popular donut shop in Edinburgh's Grassmarket made the decision to temporarily close their
00:52 doors after a large gang of youths threatened a member of staff over the weekend. Staff
00:59 at Kilted Donuts said around 20 teenagers entered the shop at around 5pm on Sunday,
01:04 October 15th and made their way behind the counter. The staff member did not sustain
01:10 physical injuries and nothing of value was stolen. Kilted Donuts say they plan to increase
01:15 their security measures and will reopen tomorrow. A Police Scotland spokesperson said enquiries
01:22 remain ongoing. And finally, SUV owners in Edinburgh could be denied a parking permit
01:28 for their vehicle, under a Green bid to ban the heaviest cars from the capital's streets.
01:34 The city's Transport Committee has agreed to investigate steps to discourage or restrict
01:39 larger and heavier vehicles, using parking permits or environmental orders amid concerns
01:45 that they pose a biggest risk to pedestrians and cyclists. Green Transport spokesman Councillor
01:51 Chas Booth said SUVs also have environmental implications because heavier vehicles tend
01:57 to have more emissions and more likely to create potholes.
