00:00 Hello, I'm Neil, a reporter at the Edinburgh Evening News, and these are some of the top
00:03 stories you can find on our website today.
00:07 Police say they have received a number of reports of youth throwing objects at buses
00:11 in the Craigmillar area, causing some services to be diverted.
00:16 Last week, buses were diverted from a busy route in the area due to roosts allegedly
00:20 throwing rocks and smashing a window.
00:23 Lothian Buses said passengers travelling on the number 2, 30 and 12 services were informed
00:29 of a diversion due to anti-social behaviour.
00:33 Police Scotland have described the behaviour as extremely dangerous and has the potential
00:37 to cause serious injury.
00:40 Edinburgh City Council has been given more than half a million pounds by the Scottish
00:43 Government to help reduce the use of temporary accommodation and increase the options for
00:49 households to move to a permanent home.
00:51 The one-off allocation of funding comes less than two weeks after Edinburgh declared a
00:56 housing emergency.
00:58 The Scottish Government will distribute £2 million across the country, with Edinburgh
01:03 receiving almost 30%, Glasgow just over 20% and Aberdeen receiving just over £300,000,
01:10 the equivalent of 15%.
01:13 In a letter to the local authorities, Housing Minister Paul McLennan said, "We said we would
01:18 provide targeted funding of £2 million to the local authorities facing the most significant
01:23 temporary accommodation pressures to support stock management activity and provide the
01:28 resource needed to deploy capital monies effectively."
01:33 Council officers have disputed claims that a popular Edinburgh bar's live music licence
01:37 was revoked following noise complaints.
01:41 City officials said the central bar in Leith Walk was ordered to lower the volume of bands
01:45 and artists rather than stop hosting live acts altogether.
01:48 It comes after a notice appeared in the pub's window over the weekend stating that all bands
01:53 and karaoke were cancelled due to persistent complaints from a resident.
